I have a Feraligatr delta specias. It has a move called "drag off".
It says" Before doing damage, you may choose 1 of your opponent's benched pokemon ans switch it with 1 of the defending pokemon. Your opponent chooses the defending pokemon to switch.

    Soo...who gets the damage.
and i thought there was only 1 defending(active) pokemon for each player.

i havent been playing for very long, so i am little confused.

Since it says "before doing damage", my guess would be that you do the switch first and then do the damage.
As for multiple Defending Pokémon, IIRC there's some way to play a game with 2 active Poké's and a max of 4 benched Poké's. (I.e. similar to the 2v2 Ruby&Sapphire fights). Anyways, I've never actually played like this, and I don't know much about it..
