The only series where I felt like you had no rival was the Ruby/Saffire/Emerald. I can't even begin to explain how weak May was ha ha. No contest and of course you can't beat the best rival of all time in Firered/Leafgreen. The original rival was always the best if you didn't play your game well you wasn't going to beat him. He at least kept you on your toes!... somewhat
