I have one worry about the GTS. Let's just say someone (somehow) made their Pokemon hold a virus or IS a virus. If that virused Pokemon was traded to you, the worst could happen (ex. game gets deleted/ things look weird)... now here's the question: is there a person out there who would trade you a virus? Is it possible? Close this thread as soon as I get a right answer...

People can't make viruses in a Pokémon game, as far as I know. o_O Just because it's online, doesn't mean they can put a virus INTO a game and spread it.

Unless you're talking about the Pokérus, in which case, it's a totally different scenario.

It's very unlikely that somebody will put some spyware into a Pokémon and then put it on the GTS... XD

im sure some smart-ass can manipulate all that data-traffic that is now going over the internet.. still, why would anyone able on doing that want to manipulate pokemon.. would be cool; a mysterious pokemon appearing over wifi. mwahahaha.. damn im drunk

I think they actually could, and, what's a Pokerus?

PokéRus is a feature that Pokémon can get which makes them grow exceptionally well. It can "contaminate" your entire team but then wears off after some days.

Theoretically, it could happen. If a person could use AR or Gameshark or somthing to make a "corrupted" Pokemon that could still exist in the game (and be on the GTS), then yes. The only thing is, if it kills game, their game would be kill too. It would be a modded copy they use to still access GTS, and Nintendo probably can stop it. They'd have to be intent on destroying Pokemon (like, the entire world) and be super haxor.

^ is what I thought of... can't they put a virus anyway through Action Replays?

No. No they can't. Even if they somehow made an incredibly-glitchy Pokemon with one (not likely to happen), there isn't really a way they could get it on the GTS with it, since the GTS has codes to block that kind of hacked Pokemon.

Now someone's going to get an idea and make a super powerful virus pokemon and launch it into the wireless feature of the game. It will go around on people's games destroying things. Then Nintendo will discover it, so they will adjust the wireless features to make it like a mmorpg and we can all team up to take out the monster!!!

But no...I don't think it can be done, with the exception of trading a corrupted gameshark pokemon around.

Hmm... okay, thanks for your help everyone. I was just concerned about that. Lock this thread if you feel like it.

    That's a South Park episode. :)

The GTS keeps hacked pokemon from being traded? I thought people could still get hacked legendaries etc through trades. Hacked pokemon can't enter NWC battles either, right? So a glitchy pokemon would never be able to make it into the NWC battle arena.

but the good news about GTS is that you can't trade some hacked Pokemon. Like I can't trade my lv. 6 Virus (Deoxys) but what I got in a trade was a lv. 46 Tyranitar
