4th Gen What is SR?

You're gonna think I'm dumb but, what is sr? People are saying I'm gonna sr to get a black rayquaza, or some other shiny pokemon, I just want to know what sr is, thank you!

It is Softreset, when you press L+R+Start+Select at the same time. But please next time post this in help thread

SR - Soft Reset.

A soft reset means the following: let's say you want to get a Shiny Lugia in Soul Silver, you save your current state in the game in front of Lugia, then you go and battle it, and if it's not Shiny you reset your game, you do the same process until you get a Shiny. The chances of finding a Shiny are very slim: you have 1/8192 of encountering one. In other words, it is a matter of luck to find it.

People soft reset their game to get certain IV's, natures, or Shiny Pokémon.
