Question: What is the point of reputation?

I always believed that it should be removed, but now that it's here, it's really getting on my nerve and causing problems for me to speak my opinion up.

I just want a nicely-detailed answer to what reputation is needed for, and what is the purpose of reputation.

What is with people and making threads about reputation lately? it's already been discussed 9001 times. Just search, don't make a new thread just to get all the same answers from previous threads. If you don't like getting rep, just disable it for yourself, it's not that hard to shrug off rep. It's the internet, not real life, who cares what someone else thinks of you?

Zet is right. I already experienced this. The best way to ignore them is too disabled your Reputation. If you know who are the abusers. Then you should put them in your ignore list and just let your profile become Private. ( Only Contacts and Staff - can see your profile even it's private ). Okay? But the point of reputation is. All about your post. Like. What the person thinks of your post. Is it good or bad? Positive or Negative Reputations in opposite. Anyways. I hope this helped. =DD.

I don't know about the others, but I've been getting spam negative reputation for stupid reasons lately. I can't take this if it goes on.

I don't think that's a valid solution to the problem here, because I know I have them, even if I hide them.
It just feels really demotivating to post after getting the negative rep for no justified reason.
And yeah, you'd say that, because you have a whole lot of positive reputation. You wouldn't want them lost - no offense.
Besides, I already always had my reputation disabled anyways. But it just bugs me, you know.

I would never mind if I got those for a valid reason. But the thing is, I don't... not even some of the positive ones...

Reputation's sole cause is to create drama.

The system is designed to allow the public to express their opinions about members of the community with either positive or negative comments which in return reflects in their reputation score. Garnering a high score generally comes with more respect than a negative score.

But, as with any system. It gets abused. The real point is it's just a favoritism contest. But anyways, we don't need anymore redundant threads unfortunately.

Also, our jobs are not to delete reputation you received/gave at your every whim. You got negative. deal with it like a man.
