but in general, some popular pokes in competitive battle would be [in no real order] -
blissey
skarmory
gengar
suicune
raikou
snorlax
tyranitar
metagross
salamence
zapdos

My *personal* favourites are Shuckle, Ampharos, Pichu, Minun, Snorlax, Wailmer, Charmander, Bulbasaur... and ten million others...
