    The plus sign means they are friends with you if I recall correctly.
     
    Actually Kenshin, they don't have to be your friend to have the "+", because those on your contacts list automatically are given pluses, and the ones viewing his profile aren't on his friends list, so I'm assuming they're on his contacts.
