What is this 9 islands thing is it true?
Im only up to lavendar town. (i only just bought it) Are these islands orange islands or not?

Oh, no, they're these certain islands that you get to, when, uh... I dunno, I think you have to catch a cetain amount of Johot pokemon before you go there. ^^; But don't believe me too much, I'm only guessing from what I remember, even if I have completed the game.. >.<

Oh, and the 8th and 9th islands are where you go when you get the Aurora Ticket, and another one. ((I think that's what it's called)). I hope this helped! ^.^

after you win the pokemon leauge and catch 60 or more pokemon prof.Oak gives you a special ticket and the sevii island sidequest starts. The 8th and 9th island are islands you go with special tickets to catch mew,Ho-ho,and Lugia.

You don't necessarily need to defeat the E4 and get the National Dex to begin the Sevii Islands sidequest. That's only needed if you wish to continue the second half of it or if you refused Bill's offer on Cinnabar Island.

Once you defeat Blaine on Cinnabar Island, Bill will show up outside the gym. He'll ask you to come with him. You can either refuse or accept. If you accept, he takes you to the Sevii Islands to help fix Celio's PC Network Machine. If you refuse, you'll have to wait until you defeat the E4 before you get another chance to go to the Sevii Islands.

Mew is not in FRLG. It's in Emerald on Faraway Island, which requires the use of some ticket to reach.

Birth Island is where Deoxys is. You need the Aurora Ticket to gain access to this island. Ho-Oh and Lugia are at the top and bottom of Navel Rock which requires the Mystic Ticket to reach.
