1st Gen What's the truck for?

I'm having trouble of the truck in the S.S. Anne in my Red version cuz I don't know what is it for? For transporting to johto when i get all the pokemon? pls help!!!!!!!!!!

The truck does nothing at all really. Supposedly it was a way to get Mew, but that is false. You can't go to Johto in R/B/Y. I repeat, the truck does nothing and has no purpose.
