I have a Clefable with an ex and a Jolteon with a small yellow star next to its name. Each one has a special text box, Clefable says when Pokemon gets knocked out your opponent gets two prize cards and Jolteon says you can't have more than 1 Pokemon * in your deck. What is the deal with these cards?

They were from the older sets that are not modified.
But they each have different powers.

EX cards, as you noticed by their attack strength and HP, if they get KO'd your opponent takes 1 extra prize card because EX's are good cards.

    * (Stars) on the other hand, are really hard to find cards and if you notice they don't have a stage1 or stage2 evolution at the top left corner, so you play it as a basic pokemon instead of the normal evo line.
Thus making the rule for the card "You may only have one * pokemon in your deck"

But if you are deciding to play in official tournaments these cards are sort of illegal, but if you are just playing to play yep you can use them.

I agree, he said everything (People keep beating me to it T-T)

My fellow Smeargle is right. Anyway, I'd hold onto those cards if I were you. Whether they're for a deck or just collecting, they're hard to come across.

Yeah man keep those cards! Smeargle pretty much summed it up
