Hey everyone, kinda just looking for some insight as to where I should start for my hack. Currently, I'm kind of just a one-man team. So far I have written the basic outline of the game's progression, which includes basic events of the story, where to go, city themes, gym types, and main story dialogue (primarily your rival/friend and the antagonist team). I still have some more work to do with as far as dialogue goes, but I pretty much have the entirety of the game planned out. I know what the region will look like, I have backstory, character motives, where towns and cities will be, etc.

So from here, where should I start exactly? I've been reading tutorials, downloading tools, but I'm not sure what part of the hack I should start with. I mean I'm trying to get a team together, but I don't know how long that will take, so I think getting a head start will be beneficial.

Any insight is appreciated. Thanks :)

If you're new to the skills, start with mapping. Since you already have an idea of what your world will look like you can translate it into your ROM hack - for that you'll need just a ROM and Advance Map (check my sticky in this beginners forum for a link).

With mapping, the best thing to do is play around and work out what the buttons do :).

Thanks! :) I've actually messed around with AM quite a bit before, so hopefully I haven't forgotten too much haha. Also, I should be using v1.9.2, correct? I'm not entirely sure why its recommended so much more over 1.9.5.

Eh. Some people say 1.95 can lead to corruption issues unless you're careful - best stick with 1.92 - there are only a few more features on the update anyway :).
