Which Pokemon do you think should be a different type:t201-qu:
I think that Gyarados should be a Water/Dragon type because it looks nothing like a flying type to me.

Cloyster should just be pure Water. That Ice type does nothing for it except give it a Fighting and Rock weakness. If it was pure Water, it could better live up to its potential as a physical wall.

Thats what I hate they just give a Pokemon any type and don't give it the right moves sometimes.

Psyduck and Golduck to Water/Psychic type, or at least plain Psychic.

I remember training up a Psyduck in gold version and being amazed at its movepool (especially since I remember it not having a good water move until a high level; actually, didn't learn any water move until then in that game)...that, plus all its 'dex entries about its psychic power makes me think "It's a psychic pokemon in disguise, darnit!"

Edit: Oh yes, remembered one more. Dunsparce to a ground type - if only to make things easier for me to remember, as I kept thinking it was a ground type instead of a normal type at one point. ^_^; Doesn't help that it's the "land snake" pokemon...

I agree about Gyarados! I was just thinking about that yesterday....why is this a Flying type? And Dragon makes much more sense IMO.

Other than that...ummm....well, Seviper strikes me as looking like it should also be Dark.

    Makes no sense!

I think it's dumb that Lati@s isn't very effected by electric. It's flying and psycic for crying out loud! Electric is good against flying and normal to psycic, so it doessn't make any sense.

Uh....Latios and Latias are Dragon and Psychic type Pokemon, not Flying/Psychic.

...Lat@s is Dragon/Psychic. And what exactly does that have to do with the thread? =/

Anyway, other than Gyarados (which has always puzzled me), I'm just wondering why Azurill is a Normal-type while its evolutions are Water-types. I mean, seriously. What makes Azurill a Normal-type at all?

I've also been puzzled by the fact that Torchic is a bird, yet it's not of the Flying-type. (On the other hand, it makes sense that it can't fly because chickens can't fly all too well either, but then that doesn't explain why Doduo/drio's Flying either.)

Oh man, it's nice to see I wan't the only one who thought this. Seriously when I started playing Pokemon again (about 2 years ago), I actually forgot Psyduck/Golduck were pure Water types -_-

Hmm... typings which don't make sense... I guess it has to be Tyranitor. Well, Dark/Rock does make sense, but Dark/Ground might be easier to remember.
    Oh, and stronger too :p

I agree about Gyrados, the type makers' brains must of gotten tired or something when making Gyra's type.

It's also kind of strange that the Pidge family are Normal/Flying.

Why can't they be just FLYING.

And Armaldo is Steel/Bug even though it looks more like a lizard...

I agree with you Dragonsanbite but not only that all Flying/Normal type Pokemon should only be pure Flying. It makes no sense because they aren't really weak to fighting type moves.

Uh, I don't think we should start changing Pokemon types based on what would be more effective in battle.

Gyarados should not be part Flying. Though I can see what they were thinking, come on, if they allowed a dual type for it, there's other Pokemon that should have dual types too.

Why is Psyduck/Golduck pure Water type? They can learn Psychic moves, and psyduck's pokedex is about his brain power or something...

I would also ditch the Poison 2nd type on Gastly/Haunter/Gengar. Maybe I can see a reason for it in RBY where their only weakness was other ghosts, but they should just remove it and let them be pure ghosts. (Plus the whole psychic-ghost fiasco in RBY)

Noctowl has several natural psychic abilities (foresight, hypnosis, confusion, dream eater), but it's a Normal/Flying and not Psychic. I would make it Psychic/Flying and give Xatu a run for it's money.

I also would make Geodude family pure rock. Is there a rule that all rock types must also be ground types?

They Should have Made Hoothoot, Noctowl, and Stanler Normal and Psychic Types. They Know Some Psychic Moves and Girafarig Was Made those Types some Time Ago.

They Did Finally Make a Pure Flying Type Pokemon Dark Venusaur. The New Pokemon Pepparu was Made Offically The First Pure Flying Type Pokemon Some Time Ago.

Um.. you just double posted. The edit button is there, you know.

Anyway, I think that Claydol shoudn't be a ground type. It has nothing to do with the ground.

Double post merged...ChanseysCharizard, please be more careful next time and edit your post instead of making a new one right afterwards.

Claydol's pokedex entries mention it being a doll made out of either mud or clay...as both things come from the ground, that would explain it having a ground type.

If you've noticed none of the flying types are purely flying. There are 16 Pokemon types available and on Pokemon's official website, there's a Pokedex where every Pokemon made is listed. If you go into the advanced search section, they'll list search by type. Only 15 types are displayed.. flying is obviously absent.

I think they only give flying types the normal attribute for STAB with moves like tackle, et cetera.. not sure though. It's rumoured in the new Diamond/Pearl series that the bird Pokemon shown will be purely flying.

But the Gyarados thing always bothered me, especially since it can't learn fly. It doesn't even have wings, does it? Those are gills, right? O_o

Gee.. ChanseysCharizard maybe I knew that already, I was talking about Pokemon that have ID numbers (numbers in Pokedex). All of those Normal/Flying types should be just pure Flying.
    *VERY ANNOYED*

I agree with you people about Psyduck, Golduck and Gyarados.
Groudon being a pure ground type has also always bothered me,
it's low special attack (well... low compared to its other stats) stat and un STABed fire attacks make its trait useless and gives Sunnybeamers a perfect opportunity to OHko it -.-

Another Pokémon which's type doesn't make any sense is Lugia.
Lugia was described as a dragon like creature at one point in the G/S/C games, which made me think it might be a Water/Dragon, Flying/Water or Flying/Dragon type Pokémon, but no, it just had to be a Psychic type, which doesn't make any sense whatsoever ¬_¬ Why the Psychic type? One would assume that the guardian of the sea would be a water type, right?

Rugia looks like a Water/Flying type Pokemon. It also lives in Water so why not it being a water type
