I feel that sinnoh by far had the best contests by that point the writers seemed to have a clearer idea what to do with them they felt far more unique and less like a ordinary Pokémon battle dawn had a brilliant arc even Jessie had some moments to shine even incorporating ash into it more with out him taking over her arc one of the only real flaws were some of the rivals

Sinnoh by a good amount. Hoenn, it was still a new concept, so it was weak as they tried to figure out how to use it. Battle Frontier got a bit better. One of my favorite contests comes from Ash and May's battle though. That was just an amazing episode and showed how much their friendship had come.

But Sinnoh blew it out of the water, hitting its peak.
