Why are they waiting so long to give Ash his 8th badge?

    I can't remember how long it's been since Ash won the 7th badge. He still had Chimchar I think. And it was before he lost the 6 v. 6 against Paul. Those were the days.

    Why do you think the writers are doing this? Are they planning something for Ash (Elite Four?)? Do they just suck at planning or are they rushing for Gen. V?

    They're just throwing in more and more fillers to stall out time before he gets to the Elite Four, then they'll probably make a new season for the Battle Frontier and such like the Orange Islands.

    They're just wasting as much time as they can for Gen V.
     
    See, I think they weren't prepared for the fifth generation this early.
    So now they have to rush through things a bit.
    Its kind of like that one time they weren't ready for Marline {Think that's her name} Third Generation girl character to come in, so they had to keep Misty for another year or two.
    Either that same thing will happen with Dawn, or they'll just really rush through her character arc and get rid of her right away for the Fifth Generation Girl character. I just hope they don't have the next girl do contest too or I'll be so bored with them next time.
     
    Between all the time they're spending in Sinnoh, plus introducing the new female HGSS character while still in Sinnoh, my guess would be there won't be a return to Johto. And even if they did, it would be somewhat like the Battle Frontier series where they returned to Kanto.

    HOWEVER

    Since Team Galactic's Charon is actually still "out there," it may be possible that it will be there that they will have a Battle Frontier season instead. That way they will still carry out the events related to that area, and finish Sinnoh in time for the 5th generation.
     
    I don't think they're rushing it at all. I think they're making it last as long as they can, like Bela said, I doubt there'll be a return to Johto. Thus they're making Sinnoh last a bit longer, until they can move from Sinnoh to Gen 5. Everytime it's on, I think "Why is it taking so long?! D; " . . . I admit, though.. it would be cool if they pulled out another totally random series like Orange Islands.
     
    It's been about 40 episodes since Ash won the 7th badge in Japan, almost a year's worth of episodes. A bunch of people thought that the writers would actually have to rush to get everything done but it seems that they might have everything already planned out.

    I doubt it since Heatran is already getting an appearance in the Ranger special so he'd basically have nothing to do.
     
    So he hasn't gotten the badge in the Japanese episodes yet either? Sheesh. The writers are dragging out for something...Gen 5? *shrugs*
     
    Maybe because they want Ash to have a Gabite or a Garchomp when he goes to the Pokemon league.
