    I was watching two japanese closings for Pokemon and I've seen May in an sad manner, she's sitting looking depressed in one, and in the other, she's surrounded by her pokemon and she wipes her tears upon seeing them...what's going on?

    The first one is probably the opening of the Battle Frontier series. The reason why May is sad in that part is to have the visual match the lyrics. The lyrics for that particular reason goes somewhere among the lines:
    "I smile... with some tears"

    The second one you are refering to is the ending called "Smile". There is no particular reason I can think of why May would look sad, perhaps to fit the mood of the song?

    Ditto with the other two. Some times they just do that to match the song. There was a sad tone and so they made May look sad since she the only one that could look sad. I mean they won't make Ash looks sad since he is a guy and older too. It like that too with the guitar part and the battle in Sprout, the current opening theme.

    So true.... Pokemon has to have SOME drama... xD
    Even if it IS just the openings/endings.... ^^;;
    They need some more in the actual show, IMO...
    But...there was no real reason May was sad, thankfully.

    Just for dramatic impact probably. The show needs more drama. And romance, I think.

    Maybe she misses Drew? xD lols.
    Or perhaps she's sad cos she just lost in a contest? hmmm.
