Well tonight my family was talking and my mom told me of her school years. i was quite shock when she told me her 8th grade year. it all started like this:

I DO NOT, and i mean DO NOT mean to be racist in anyway. im just telling the story how she told it.

She was sitting in her classroom in palmetto middle school. it was an integrated school in the 60s. things were always on edge due to a black kid being shot in Miami, and tension was building between the whites and blacks. there school was surrounded by a fence with barbed wire, and a gate that is closed most of the time during school hours. My mom was sitting in her desks when a loud noise from the hallways came. My mom went outside along with her class to see black high school students in the hallway with weapons. some had bronze knuckles, razors, and what scared my mom most of all, a Knife. She had a little brother in the 6th grade and worried about him. she was looking for him when she notice that the middle school blacks were also attacking. they destroyed classroom after classroom and started to attack some of the whites. She was running down the hall when a Black girl grabbed her by her ponytail and sliced half of it away with a razor, while another kid punched her in the face. she didn't remember how she got away from them, but remembered finding her little brother. they held hands and ran towards the fence, and waited there. after what seemed like a life time 20 cop cars pulled in and the fenced open. My mom felt it was just in time, because a group of black kids came running after her. They ran for four blocks where they hid inside a hole. an hour had passed when they deemed it finally safe and ran to the library. She never blamed the blacks or held any grudges. she knew they were having it bad. although she was never comfertable in school for the rest of the year.

This was a first hand acounnt on the palmetto middle school riot. it turned out that it was plan ahead of time.
    End

ahh what an intresting story. now that my story is out of the way, does your parents have any stories? do you have some? Post them here for others to see.

That's a crazy story... I think I do remember something to that affect about that incident though.

It's unfortunate, that while the black students were fighting for their rights, the way they were doing it, was in an illegal manner...

I realize change can be brought about in both war and peace, but when your faced with overwhelming odds... well... *points to Martin Luther King Jr.*

My dad told me an interesting story; when he was in my old school, he saw ball lightning on the corridor. It exploded (or whatever ball lightning does).
He saw it coming into the building too, I wish I'd seen something like it. ;p

Well there was this bully at my dad's school when he was like 15 and one day my dad and his friends were playing Football (English FB) when this bully came up and started making a scene, he wanted to fight so my dad said well come on then, there's four of us and one of him as he is walking towards the bully, he turns around and see's his friends running away. xD You can kinda guess for yourself what happened next. Chicks dig scars though so he was OK.

My mum was born in Eritrea, at the time of the war with Ethiopia back in the '70s. She witnessed a guy shooting another.

My dad was also caught in that incident when America bombed Libya. He was studying there for a few years, and when the bombers attacked one city, all the major cities were put on alert. They had to black out the windows or turn off the lights, so that the Americans couldn't see their targets. My dad still doesn't like Americans. :/

The best story of my parents is still about the prices they paid for stuff back in the day. About how far a quarter would go. How minimum wage wasn't that bad. How bread and cigarettes were similar in price. How awesome car and gas prices were. How Greyhound Bus Lines were.
