This is something I've been working on just for fun. The objective was to build a well-balanced poison-themed (though not necessarily monotype) team to clear the Battle Frontier and possibly take into wifi. I post here because it's obviously a bit too gimmicky to pass in the general S&M forum. XD
Roserade @ Leftovers
Timid nature
Natural Cure
252 HP/4 Def/252 Spd
-Sleep Powder
-Toxic Spikes
-Substitute
-Leech Seed
Standard SubSeed lead Roserade. It also bears the task of setting up Toxic Spikes. Defensive EV spread keeps it alive long enough to take a hit or two.
Gengar @ Life Orb
Modest nature
4 Def/252 Sp.Atk/252 Spd
-Shadow Ball
-Thunderbolt
-Focus Blast
-Pain Split
It's Gengar...what can you say? His primary purpose is to block Rapid Spin and possibly deal out some decent damage in their face. Thunderbolt takes out most common Rapid Spinners, Shdow Ball gets STAB, and Focus Blast offers good type coverage. Pain Split keeps him healthy from Life Orb damage.
Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Calm nature
Liquid Ooze
252 HP/252 Def/4 Sp.Def
-Surf
-Barrier
-Toxic
-Giga Drain
Obviously a wall. With Barrier up, it can wall nearly everything and Toxic lets any flying or levitating enemies in on the fun of being poison'd. If Tenta needs to do attack, Surf is a reliable STAB move and Giga Drain heals him if he take more damage than the sludge can heal.
Houndoom @ Focus Sash
Modest nature
Flash Fire
4 HP/252 Sp.Atk/252 Spd
-Nasty Plot
-Flamethrower
-Dark Pulse
-Sludge Bomb
My only non-poison type is here to switch into incoming psychic attacks, and actually hit steel-types hard. set up with Nasty Plot and try for a sweep. Flamethrower and Dark Pulse hit for good STAB damage while Sludge Bomb is just there to keep in with the theme. =/
Drapion @ Scope Lens
Jolly nature
Sniper
252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
-Swords Dance
-Cross Poison
-Night Slash
-Fire Fang
I've always wanted to try this strategy. Drapion is a very defensive pokemon in terms of base stats, but it's got good attacking potential too. Set up with Swords Dance and try for a critical hit with either of his STAB moves. Fire Fang is here to hit pesky steel-types that resist both.
Crobat @ Brightpowder
Jolly nature
4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
-Confuse Ray
-Double Team
-Fly
-U-Turn
Stallbat is here to stall out any major threats. Confuse Ray, Brightpowder, Double Team, and Fly accomplish this nicely. U-turn is for hitting and running away from things that will clearly own him.
I'm still in the process of breeding each of these guys, so any constructive criticism is helpful. I haven't made a good competitively viable team since the days of GSC, so I know there's a thousand things about the current metagame I may have overlooked. I'm especially unsure about EV spreads and my choice in hold items. =/
