Which do you guys think has done a better job up to now running Pokemon events: Wizards of the Coast that had foil rare prerelease cards that you would get just for playing in League and long before the set came out, had the coolest promos, and actually made sets that made older cards legal again in modified, or Nintendo that's basically done nothing but give us lously prerelease cards, horrible promo cards that you can't even get all of like those WB creator card contest that were only given to kids 15 and under and are not even tournament legal and the POP series 1 boosters that you may never even pull a rare or ex from since they are so hard to get, and there is still no major tournaments for unlimited like Gym, Stadium, or Worlds and what gives with the whole rating starting at 1600 again at the end of the year.
I think you guys can guess which I think did a better job!

I feel that Nintendo has done a much better job. They reinstituted a FUNCTIONAL 15+ division, hold prerelease tournaments where you can get a good portion of a new set before it can ever touch the store fronts, has massive prize support even for those areas that don't have that much going for them, and has completely revamped the Professor Program into a teaching and TOing divice rather than the only way for the 15+ to get any type of competition.

I also love the new product releases, especially the way they've been making the PCDs as of late. They've actually been putting good cards in the PCDs, rather than the POS decks that WOTC used to make. Also, they just came out with the EX Battle Stadium, which helps in making competitive Modified decks by giving the player virtually every card they'd ever need to make a good Blaze or Gardy deck, two of the strongest competitors in the current Modified format. They are also planning (and I think have released, not sure on that yet) exact duplicates of 4 of the top 6 Worlds decks, even if the cards in those decks aren't legal for play. Also, in the past 6 weeks, we saw the release of POP Series 1 Booster packs, a giant leap forward for OP, quite possibly surpassing some OP greats such as MTG and YGO with it's unique ability to get players to actually play the game for fun instead of playing to win.

That's rather interesting since POP under Nintendo threatened to suspend you for some stupid email you sent them were you said hell and torment yesss. It seems your judgement is flawed, the only reason POP has so much control is because Nintendo lets them basically run the show as far as the card game is concerned and that is were I see Nintendo has there biggest flaw yesss. Also were is this massive prize support you speak of Bullados, all I see listed as the base prize for prereleases is 4 packs for each player, that does not at all show appreciation to the players that did real good especially when your limited rating doesn't count towards much anyway, I don't see much of a point in playing especially if the promo is going to be like the last few, a crappy uncommon yess. They even cut down the prize support for cities and states which at least made it less likely that people will travel out of state so there probably wont be as many people, however I would rather have paid the entry fee and had a chance at a box rather than only 18 packs yess.

Look around. POP has just ended its first year taking over from WOTC, and they've already held more Premier level events than WOTC ran in the previous 3 years combined. The prize support for the first year was incredible, and, while it has dropped somewhat for the individual players in terms of POP supported prizes, check with your local TO for updates on what their prize structure is going to be: I can pretty much guarantee you that their prize structure will benefit the winners even slightly. Also, for the next OP year, all Constructed Premier-level tournaments are FREE OF CHARGE, with prizes being cut in half. Again, check with your local TO for details about prize structure: I know of at least one CC that will be using last year's prize structure, many others are sure to increase prize support because of this. About the Limited rating not counting for anything, there are rumors floating around that this year the invites for Worlds will be based off Overall rankings, rather than Modified rankings as they were last year.

WOTC completely shut out their largest age group, the 15+, under the false pretense that Japan wanted the game to be targeted at younger kids. Based on the reinstitution of the 15+ under PUI, that's a bunch of bull. What they were really trying to do was push the 15+ into their much more popular and profitable Magic: The Gathering game. Because PUI has no other TCGs to speak of, they've put everything they've got behind this one game, and it has begun to pay dividends. Worlds was attended by quite literally thousands, even though only about 150 had been invited to participate in the main event. Many of those who attended spent their time at the many side events offered at Worlds, including, but not limited to, Drafts, Sealed decks, Modified, Mutant, and Unlimited. Also, the Japanese artists paid a visit to the United States for the first time ever (that I know of), and we finally got a chance to meet them and get our cards signed by their creators. I think that even the great Ken Sujimori, the creator of Pokemon, was there signing and generally hanging out with everyone. WOTC had a single Worlds competition in 4 years of running the thing, and it was a very lame competition in comparison to PUI's Worlds. The Professor Championships, which was a pathetic program to begin with, were held after hours and with no press support. The overall attendance barely reached 500, and none of the top Japanese or overseas players were even invited to participate.

You say thousands at worlds and I say hundreds, and I was at the event yess. You talk about how much good they've done in 1 year well lets talk about what they haven't done in one year, do events and promotions for the people that were playing long before they took over. The unlimited tournaments there were nothing big, there was no trophy for winning them saying you are the World champ of unlimited so who really cares. If there are no major tournaments for unlimited they are going to have to keep recruiting new players which I don't see happening too often. When Wizards droped a few sets a lot of players who could not afford to keep there decks competative thought about quiting but then they made some of the older cards legal with the release of Legendary which allowed a lot of the players that were going to quit to continue to play, but when Nintendo took over they instantly changed modified to Expedition and up with no set that made some of the older cards legal like Legendary did, now Nintendo has changed modified to just Ruby Saphire and up and still has not released a set to bring back older cards that are not in the Ruby Saphire block or Aqua Magma block. If this is the way Nintendo treats people who played when Wizards ran it then they don't deserve the buisiness from the players who played in the Wizards of the Coast days. Also they even advertised the artist signings wrong, they listed it as 3 or 4 cards per artist to be signed but then when the day came they changed it to 1 card per artist, so a lot of people went looking through there sets to get multiple cards signed and then they said 1 per artist per time. Also why would Wizards have kept pouring money into a game that they knew Nintendo was going to take back yess.

Both companies are focused on making profit, and they see different ways of creating that profit. WOTC used re-releasing of old cards into a new format and supporting an old format. PUI (it isn't Nintendo, it's PUI) is using a new format, which I believe is working from a business standpoint. PUI is in business to make money, and is doing quite well at that. All of the new sets have been flying off the store shelves, and league attendance is up compared to the last year of WOTC.

Also, remember that WOTC had 4 years to put together a working OP program. PUI has only had 1. Considering that they've had a much shorter amount of time to put together something useful, I'd say they're doing a fairly good job wouldn't you?
