Introduction
Chapter Ø
Spoiler:
If there was something in sight by then, it was "Antimatter". An entire horizon made of a deep color, darker than the color of the abyss.
The only being trapped in the "Pitch-Black" macrocosm had seen nothing but an entire universe made of "Destruction" during days, weeks… Years, maybe.
But, how could he know? "Time" and "Space" were concepts He himself created to count His last days and to locate Himself in the middle of nothing.
Concepts created by himself, just like His growing "Will" and "Knowledge". However, something was absent from Him, and He knew it was important.
He thought about that missing part, and called "Emotions" something that should had never existed from the start.
He thought about the chances of other beings existing. He thought about the chances of these beings getting consumed and returning to their mother: darkness itself.
He knew they did. He knew He would too, unless He destroyed it.
After all, without emotions, He could feel no "Gratitude" or love towards His future murderer.
And so, He, that immoral being, withstood against The Original Chaos and slaughtered it, crowning himself as The Original Being afterwards.
From then on, he thought, darkness would disappear forever and the abyss would become His own utopia. His desire made him able to give birth to twins,
whose beings were called "Dialga" and "Palkia", Master and Mistress of "Time" and "Space", who would create the world we know now as Earth.
However, he didn't expect a third child. Conceived by Him and "Antimatter" that fulfilled his lack of emotions, he was another child made of darkness.
The Lord of Antimatter.
~~~~~
As soon as the ticking of Dialga's clocks began echoing, the universe of Palkia started expanding, pushing the remaining darkness away from a newborn planet.
Arceus successfully finished creating Earth in seven days after giving birth to new creatures and concepts. Even if there were some fights between siblings
in the Genesis of Earth, such as Kyogre and Groudon's first meeting, they soon were put to an end to not create Antimatter in the utopia.
"Palkia, good morning! …Oh, did you spend all night reading again? Really?"
Most legendaries decided to live between humans, a new species Xerneas had created in his first attempts to create other living beings and decided to keep.
Most of legendaries built mansions in the highest mountain of the first region ever created: Mount Coronet, and they co-worked with humans
during a long time with human bodies.
"Stop. It's my book, don't touch it. Shoo."
"But you need to rest a bit! It's been two days straight!"
The world had successfully avoided darkness and fights during some centuries.
"I told you to not touch it!" Palkia grabbed Dialga's hair and pulled it softly. As the youngest complained, she released his hair and kept reading.
"I can't sleep, and I need distractions. I wonder how you can sleep so peacefully during nights…." While listening, Dialga giggled,
sitting on the nearest chair, and the oldest sibling glanced at him. "What? Do you find my insomnia funny?"
"A bit, to be honest." Palkia sighed at his answer, closing her eyes. As soon as she opened them, she tried to focus on her book, but, alarmed,
she immediately glanced at the boy when hearing him. "Don't you find it funny? The screams, I mean."
"...So, you hear them too." The Mistress of Space glanced at her book sadly, then closed it.
"Yeah, they start when the sky goes dark, and they shut up when Ho-oh rises… It's funny, in the weird way. But I don't know where they come from."
"I know that..." The girl got up from the sofa and placed the book on her bedside table, still looking at it. "...From dad's room. But I can't see anything…
My powers show me blurry stuff when I try to focus on what's inside…"
"...Wait, what? Dad's… Room?!" Dialga stood up and glanced at the book of Genesis Palkia was reading. When he read its title, he narrowed his eyes,
clenching his fists. "...Do you think he's… Hiding something?"
"...Indeed. And it's worse when I think about when the cries began… Because I don't remember."
A very heavy silence flooded the room. None of them knew what to reply, because the conversation was over. They didn't like to think about
their father hiding stuff from them— The Original Being himself had raised the siblings making them believe how negative actions could attract darkness,
and how they should avoid them. In that moment, it felt like a big contradiction, a big lie made of hypocrisy.
Even so, Dialga suddenly smiled, taking his sister's hand and, by pulling it, he distanced her from the book. Palkia glanced at him, raising an eyebrow.
"...Hey, Palkia, do you remember what day is today?"
"...Time isn't my strong point, you see."
Dialga giggled.
"Today is the day in which Willpower and Knowledge will be born as living creatures!"
Spoiler:
"Let there be Willpower in them"
"Let there be Knowledge in them"
As He had reached His right hand out from His mansion's highest balcony,
the sound of the churches' bells softly fulfilled the air of all regions.
The Original Being had blessed mankind.
Some humans began moving, clapping, dancing.
Some humans began having own ideas, languages, dreams.
And all of them acquired tears and happiness.
There was a big celebration full of dances, banquets, and laughs.
As soon as humans began having own willpower and independent intelligence,
an Egg hatched, and new beings slept in a cradle.
The Original Being looked at his older children, without even glancing at the newborns,
and approached to them, cold expression and void eyes as His main appearance.
Then, He placed a hand on Dialga's head, who smiled.
"The being of Willpower is your responsibility from now on.
Raise and take care of them."
Then, He pulled his hand away, and looked at Palkia, placing a hand on her shoulder.
Palkia just narrowed her eyes.
"The being of Knowledge is your responsibility from now on.
Raise and take care of them."
Arceus left the balcony and returned to His room, which was locked after He entered,
leaving Dialga and Palkia in charge of the big festival. Palkia sighed, clenching her fists,
and Dialga approached to the cradle, taking Azelf carefully for a second.
"Aw, my protege is so cute."
"Hey, Dialga…" Palkia began, slowly approaching after noticing something out of context.
"Hm? Yes?" Her little brother replied, glancing at her with a smile after placing Azelf in the cradle again.
"…Don't you find it a bit strange…?"
"The what?"
"There are three kids in the cradle…"
As soon as Palkia said that, Dialga's gaze returned to the newborns and stared at it for some
seconds, realizing there were, indeed, three beings, two of them sleeping peacefully, grabbing the
third one's hands softly while covering her with their tails. Dialga frowned, looking at his sister
again after uncovering the little girl.
She just kept staring at the smiling third child silently, concerned.
"She shouldn't exist… Dad said "Willpower" and "Knowledge…"
Palkia mumbled, covering her mouth with a hand of hers,
feeling the sensation of her stomach turn. "…This means…"
"Hey…" Her brother lowered his voice, and his gaze acquired an unhappy look
as he stared at the third newborn as well. As for the little girl, she narrowed her eyes
and giggled cheerily, feeling, as Palkia and Dialga knew,
a naive happiness that wouldn't last long.
"We have to hide her." Dialga suddenly said, glancing at the main balcony
of the mansion for a second, taking Azelf and the newborn girl afterwards.
"Before dad gets to see her…" A short silence finished his sentence while
Palkia glanced at Uxie, taking him from the cradle softly too.
"There are three lakes in our region…" Palkia mumbled,
"However, we can't… Just leave the three in there.
Let's just leave the little girl in one of the lake caves…"
"But, wait! Who will take care of her?!"
Dialga was pretty upset about it
"We will, for the sake of her...Secretly.
You're carrying her and your protege, so…
…Today's your turn."
~ ~ ~
" R E L E A S E M E "
The screaming voice began as soon as Palkia walked near her father's room.
She stopped walking, standing in front of the door with Uxie on her arms.
She couldn't look away from the room's entrance, even so
she knew her protege was about to cry.
" R E L E A S E M E "
She knew The Original Being was out,
and she knew sneaking in wouldn't be a good idea.
However, as soon as the voice screamed once more, a strange feeling
invaded her entire body. It made her uncomfortable, but curious about it.
The aura coming from that room was attracting her.
" R E L E A S E M E "
She looked both ways, holding Uxie with one arm and, with her other hand,
she unlocked the door with a bit of her Space powers. She grabbed the doorknob tightly,
but doubted for a second.
" T H A N K Y O U, S I S "
Quickly, Palkia had left Uxie in the ground to use both hands to close
and lock the door again. Nervous and with her hands trembling violently,
warm tears had rolled down her cheeks after hearing that sentence.
However, these weren't transparent anymore.
With a greyish tone that soon turned pitch black,
the being inside of the room forced her to realize the truth.
And so, her older brother dragged her in, and
when The Original Being had returned, he found Uxie
crying loudly on the floor.
A door was locked once more, and, inside, He found Giratina,
grabbing his unconscious little sister by her hair tightly.
"So, you came to save your dear daughter from your favorite kid?"
"Let there be Knowledge in them"
Spoiler:
Tick, tock, tick, tock...
Dialga suddenly felt upset,
and so, Time itself.
...Tick, tock, tick, tock...
He grabbed the clothes near his chest, feeling
the tick-tock of his heart faster than usual. Soon, he
began breathing heavily, not understanding
what was going on.
...Tick, tock, tick, tock...
"...Dialga, what happens?..."
The dolls of his room asked, all of them worried.
But, even if the living dolls were talking
to him, Dialga's only answer were complains.
"Dialga!"
...Tick, tock, tick, tock...
He knew he would have a heartattack sooner or later.
Human bodies are fragile, and, when forced to have too much power,
their health decays, and it begins depending on their soul's vitality.
Yet... He didn't expect it to happen two days after Mesprit had been hidden.
He had to take care of her, of Azelf as well, and live longer than anyone.
But, soon, he fell to the ground, and his legs became cold as steel.
His power was killing his human body too fast.
...Tick, tock, tick, tock...
He had to warn Palkia, or his Father, so they
could transfer his soul to another human body.
However, Palkia wasn't around, not like always,
and his Father was probably in His room.
He tried to drag himself to the exit of his room,
but steps were heard out of it. He stopped.
"Thanks God... Palkia is coming..." He thought.
His door was opened slowly, and a giggle was heard.
Suddenly, a dark aura invaded the room. His body felt it,
and began trembling, his heart ticking faster. He grabbed
his own clothes tightier as a being approached to him, his
breathing getting heavier and his vision getting blurry.
"...Pal...kia...?"
But he didn't know that his older sister was still unconscious,
covered in darkness, just like he would soon as well.
"So... My presence makes you weak too...?
How disappointing, coming from the Time-Space owners..."
No matter how the dolls in the bookshelves had
suddenly dropped themselves to the ground and used
their cracked bodies to create a Time barrier
around him. Antimatter didn't care about that.
...Ding, dong, ding, dong...
The sound of the churches' bells echoed in all world several times
as Dialga's heart ticked faster, announcing Time was threatening
the entire universe's stability.
And, suddenly, porcelain was scattered around the boy.
Dialga's clockwork dolls stopped working as something
had thrown the little fragile bodies to the cold, hard walls,
and the Time barrier soon disappeared.
"Do you think Time can stop Antimatter?"
...Ding, dong... Ding, dong...
Ah, how they screamed in pain, calling their Master.
Soon, the warm dolls got cold, just like Dialga's legs,
and then, a loud laugh was heard as he tried to
reach one of the broken dolls from the ground.
"... So young and powerful, full of vitality even when dying...
...It's a shame your peaceful, idle life made you fragile."
The doll Dialga was trying to reach was still alive,
and they almost got to touch each other's hands.
However, it was too late. A breaking noise was heard.
Giratina stepped on her head, breaking it.
...Ding... Dong... Ding... Dong...
Ah, how Dialga screamed in pain, calling Celebi,
but that only made him run out of oxygen faster.
The last thing he felt, however, was Giratina's cold hand
stroking his head, and, soon, his tears and sclera
became pitch-black as he lost consciousness.
~ ~ ~
Dialga opened his eyes.
He was in his own room.
No porcelain was shattered,
no dolls were broken.
Azelf, who was floating around the room,
noticed his older brother was awake.
Everything was okay, and everyone was safe.
Dialga felt the urge to cry.
"...What... What... Hey... Are you really awake?"
Dialga smiled sadly at Azelf's question, hugging him softly.
Azelf's skin felt a shiver at the cold touch.
"Yeah... I am... Glad to see you all are okay too..."
"...Uh..."
"...You don't know how terrible was my nightmare...
...But, knowing it was just a dream... I'm okay."
A heavy silence.
"...Dialga... I repeat... Are you really awake?"
Azelf began, and Dialga got upset.
He looked around once more- but he didn't recognize
any of the lifeless dolls in the bookshelves.
"Azelf... Where are my dolls and... Celebi?..."
And then his protege had looked down sadly, sighing.
Dialga grabbed him by his shoulders tightly,
but noticed that something was wrong on him.
"...Wait... How in the world... Can you talk..."
Azelf got rid of the grabbing, and floated towards
something covered with two white blankets.
"...Come here and look at this..."
As soon as Dialga got up from the bed,
a bad feeling ran down his spine in a shiver.
However, he approached and uncovered the mirror,
finding it a bit hard, since his fingers felt a bit heavy.
Then, he looked at the truth, and his visage acquired terror.
And he felt his breath cut as he touched his face with both hands.
"...W...hy..."
He wasn't a human Pokémon or a living being anymore.
And he screamed instead of crying, because his eyes
wouldn't be able to cry anymore.
"We...Palkia, Uxie and I... Had to replace your flesh body...
...So your soul would never be affected again by
the Antimatter that consumed your old body...
...When, you know...Antimatter was released...
...Three years ago..."
He was in his own room.
No porcelain was shattered,
no dolls were broken.
However, he wasn't the same as before.
"Dialga!"
Palkia, who appeared in the room after hearing his screams,
approached to his little brother, who glanced at her terrified
and hugged her tightly. Then, she knew that, even
if he had a doll's body, his soul was feeling a deep pain, like
he has been stabbed right in his heart.
Because no one was who they were before either,
because, with Antimatter released in the utopia,
no one in their world was safe anymore.
"Dialga, calm down, and listen... You're safe now."
And she had looked at his void eyes sadly, and he
realized something worse than his own state.
Her sclera was black, and her skin wasn't warm anymore.
He had burned her pale skin with affectionate physical contact.
His sister would never be safe either,
because she was made of Antimatter.
Palkia sighed deeply, narrowing her eyes.
"...I can stand both of our Antimatter. Just don't worry.
As long as your powers aren't altered by darkness,
Space can recover. Time heals almost everything,
doesn't it?..."
The Original Being had observed the entire scene,
his void eyes narrowed, not showing a single emotion
as Azelf had been hiding behind Him along Uxie, both scared
from their older brother's screams.
With a very low voice, Uxie told Azelf to take him to their room,
since he couldn't handle hearing such a terrible scene, and less
if he wasn't able to see it.
As Azelf guided Uxie, Arceus had slowly approached to the siblings.
Then, with a cold, threatening voice, he said:
"Palkia, you disobeyed me three years ago, so I gave you a mission
I told you to start when Dialga woke up.
Now, he's awake, so you must stop the Antimatter from being spread even more.
It doesn't matter how much time or energy it takes you to do that. If you fail me,
I will have no other option than replace you soul with a new, pure one.
This is the only chance I give you, Palkia, to purify your own soul.
As for you, Dialga, you can accompany your sister, since you can't get darkened.
To join her or not, it's up to you."
There was a silence, and The Original Being walked away after
looking at his children coldly, giving them a last order.
"You can begin by erasing Mesprit's existence."
And both of them just realized,
that things just started to go wrong.
Dialga suddenly felt upset,
and so, Time itself.
...Tick, tock, tick, tock...
"So... My presence makes you weak too...?
How disappointing, coming from the Time-Space owners..."
No matter how the dolls in the bookshelves had
suddenly dropped themselves to the ground and used
their cracked bodies to create a Time barrier
around him. Antimatter didn't care about that.
...Ding, dong, ding, dong...
The sound of the churches' bells echoed in all world several times
as Dialga's heart ticked faster, announcing Time was threatening
the entire universe's stability.
And, suddenly, porcelain was scattered around the boy.
Dialga's clockwork dolls stopped working as something
had thrown the little fragile bodies to the cold, hard walls,
and the Time barrier soon disappeared.
"Do you think Time can stop Antimatter?"
...Ding, dong... Ding, dong...
Ah, how they screamed in pain, calling their Master.
Soon, the warm dolls got cold, just like Dialga's legs,
and then, a loud laugh was heard as he tried to
reach one of the broken dolls from the ground.
"... So young and powerful, full of vitality even when dying...
...It's a shame your peaceful, idle life made you fragile."
The doll Dialga was trying to reach was still alive,
and they almost got to touch each other's hands.
However, it was too late. A breaking noise was heard.
Giratina stepped on her head, breaking it.
...Ding... Dong... Ding... Dong...
Ah, how Dialga screamed in pain, calling Celebi,
but that only made him run out of oxygen faster.
The last thing he felt, however, was Giratina's cold hand
stroking his head, and, soon, his tears and sclera
became pitch-black as he lost consciousness.
Dialga opened his eyes.
He was in his own room.
No porcelain was shattered,
no dolls were broken.
Azelf, who was floating around the room,
noticed his older brother was awake.
Everything was okay, and everyone was safe.
Dialga felt the urge to cry.
"...What... What... Hey... Are you really awake?"
Dialga smiled sadly at Azelf's question, hugging him softly.
Azelf's skin felt a shiver at the cold touch.
"Yeah... I am... Glad to see you all are okay too..."
"...Uh..."
"...You don't know how terrible was my nightmare...
...But, knowing it was just a dream... I'm okay."
A heavy silence.
"...Dialga... I repeat... Are you really awake?"
Azelf began, and Dialga got upset.
He looked around once more- but he didn't recognize
any of the lifeless dolls in the bookshelves.
"Azelf... Where are my dolls and... Celebi?..."
And then his protege had looked down sadly, sighing.
Dialga grabbed him by his shoulders tightly,
but noticed that something was wrong on him.
"...Wait... How in the world... Can you talk..."
Azelf got rid of the grabbing, and floated towards
something covered with two white blankets.
"...Come here and look at this..."
As soon as Dialga got up from the bed,
a bad feeling ran down his spine in a shiver.
However, he approached and uncovered the mirror,
finding it a bit hard, since his fingers felt a bit heavy.
Then, he looked at the truth, and his visage acquired terror.
And he felt his breath cut as he touched his face with both hands.
"...W...hy..."
He wasn't a human Pokémon or a living being anymore.
And he screamed instead of crying, because his eyes
wouldn't be able to cry anymore.
"We...Palkia, Uxie and I... Had to replace your flesh body...
...So your soul would never be affected again by
the Antimatter that consumed your old body...
...When, you know...Antimatter was released...
...Three years ago..."
He was in his own room.
No porcelain was shattered,
no dolls were broken.
However, he wasn't the same as before.
"Dialga!"
Palkia, who appeared in the room after hearing his screams,
approached to his little brother, who glanced at her terrified
and hugged her tightly. Then, she knew that, even
if he had a doll's body, his soul was feeling a deep pain, like
he has been stabbed right in his heart.
Because no one was who they were before either,
because, with Antimatter released in the utopia,
no one in their world was safe anymore.
"Dialga, calm down, and listen... You're safe now."
And she had looked at his void eyes sadly, and he
realized something worse than his own state.
Her sclera was black, and her skin wasn't warm anymore.
He had burned her pale skin with affectionate physical contact.
His sister would never be safe either,
because she was made of Antimatter.
Palkia sighed deeply, narrowing her eyes.
"...I can stand both of our Antimatter. Just don't worry.
As long as your powers aren't altered by darkness,
Space can recover. Time heals almost everything,
doesn't it?..."
The Original Being had observed the entire scene,
his void eyes narrowed, not showing a single emotion
as Azelf had been hiding behind Him along Uxie, both scared
from their older brother's screams.
With a very low voice, Uxie told Azelf to take him to their room,
since he couldn't handle hearing such a terrible scene, and less
if he wasn't able to see it.
As Azelf guided Uxie, Arceus had slowly approached to the siblings.
Then, with a cold, threatening voice, he said:
"Palkia, you disobeyed me three years ago, so I gave you a mission
I told you to start when Dialga woke up.
Now, he's awake, so you must stop the Antimatter from being spread even more.
It doesn't matter how much time or energy it takes you to do that. If you fail me,
I will have no other option than replace you soul with a new, pure one.
This is the only chance I give you, Palkia, to purify your own soul.
As for you, Dialga, you can accompany your sister, since you can't get darkened.
To join her or not, it's up to you."
There was a silence, and The Original Being walked away after
looking at his children coldly, giving them a last order.
"You can begin by erasing Mesprit's existence."
And both of them just realized,
that things just started to go wrong.
