I was using AdvanceMap 1.92 because it's the latest version (that I know of) that has the World Map Editor. I was trying to change the World Map Flags of the BLUE DOT EVENTS on the map, the ones that appear on top of the towns.
I am able to edit the flags of the bottom layer (the town layer) just fine, but when I try to change the flags for the top layer, it doesn't actually save it. I type it in, and as soon as I leave the tile and come back the flag is back to it's original number.
I assumed that I had to go and change the flags manually with a Hex Editor, which I didn't think would be too hard; all I had to do was find the offset where the world map flags for these locations are stored, right?
Well it wouldn't be that hard if I knew where it was.
Looking at the World Map Editor, I saw that it said "Data from Name Header". This led me to believe that there was a header that contained the pointer to the name, the position on the map and the World Map Flag. I tried searching for the pointer (in reverse) in the ROM, but the only things I got weren't too helpful. The first was what I presume to be data for the Town Map, as it had the value for the Map, the pointer to the name and a pointer to what I assume is the flavor text for the Town Map.
The second was what I assumed was the list of pointers to the names of the other maps.
Either way, I couldn't find anything pertaining to the World Map Flags.
I could find the routines mentioned in Mastermind_X's World Map Tutorial in a clean Fire Red ROM, but not in my hacked ROM. I already changed the flag routine using the button in the World Map Editor a really long time ago before I knew what that button really meant, so I can't find it at the original address. I also couldn't find it in my hacked ROM at all by searching for a few bytes of it from the clean ROM. I's probably still in there, but so different I don't know where to find it.
So my real question is this, does anyone have any information on the World Map Flags and how to change them for the TOP LAYER IN THE WORLD MAP. Let me stress that the bottom layer works just fine! It's the top layer that has issues!
Thanks in advance!
