This is what yugioh wikia lists as the commonly accepted deck ratio.
How many of you actually follow the ratio? I have more traps and spells than monsters in my Gladiator Beast deck which I'm trying to work out.

    Errr, nope!

I follow this ratio for a lot of decks:

    Non-tributes - 15
    Tributes - 5
    Spells - 8/10
    Traps - 12/10

Actually I feel that ratios don't really help when you're deckbuilding, because some decks demand a higher monster count and some decks demand a lower monster count; plus some decks are built around powerful Spell Cards and thus have a narrower Trap lineup and the rest of the decks want to run defensive Traps. Furthermore one has to take into account the condition of the metagame (for example right now we have Gravekeepers who run Royal Tribute, so it's a bad idea to run a large monster lineup unless you can reliably deal).

That being said my decks are usually around this:

    Monsters - 13-21
    Spells - 7-15
    Traps - 2-15

Like I said it really depends on the makeup and strategy as well as other things that may affect your deck composition.

It definitely depends on what kind of deck it is. I was looking at my decklists and my Dragunity Deck is actually a few cards off from the ratio mentioned in the first post. My Toon Deck is almost even on each card type. My Anti-Heal Deck has almost half the deck made of traps and then an even amount of spells and monsters.

Nobody Tribute Summons anything except for Monarchs and LaDDs except in really rare situations nowadays anyway.

Most commonly accepted ratio is not necessarily correct at all.

I usually run decks with at least 18 Monsters in them, though I also run decks with as few as... Oh, right, none.

If you're playing GBs, than it is normal for you to have more spells and traps than monsters, because GBs need alot of protection and can tag out for what monster you need at the right time. There is no real ratio of how many of each card you should use, it all depends on what deck you are playing and what works for you. Why don't you post your deck list of your GB deck and we can look at it and if you would like any suggestions ^_^

Gladial Beasts play at 13-14 monsters typically, as do other decks such as Gemini Beat (except that deck is more around 15-16).

Royal Tribute is just too powerful for it to be otherwise; you need to be able to Spheal with it or die. Plus defensive Trap lineups are huge because Heavy Storm is gone (oh, that discouragement to setting full backrows... how I miss it).

I agree with Cirrus, most GBs use a low monster count with around 12-14 monsters and max out on defensive spells/traps and search out the monsters with GB proving ground.
