Many years ago, people would dress up in their best outfit/dress to go to church. If one could not make or afford to purchase several outfits, then the same one would be worn each week only for Sunday service. Casual clothing such as jeans, sneakers, shorts, sandals, etc. would not be deemed acceptable.

Skipping to the present, the phrase typically means to dress very nicely. Now think of the moment of your life when you had on your fanciest clothing.

    • What did you wear?
    • What was it for?
    • How did you feel while wearing your outfit/dress?
    • Was it comfortable?
    • What were your parents/peers' reaction to it?

Ehhhhhhh alright - I'll let this thread live because I think it's different enough from Scarf's thread to warrant its own thread, but I'm going to change the title because that just makes things confusing lol.

I'll reply properly to the question later, I'm just posting this in case anybody was planning to report this thread :P

I guess, couple of times I have been in my suit, so that would be my 'fanciest'.

A lot of people liked it and many couple of females have like me in a suit! ;D

I don't like tuxedos, and avoid wearing them when I can, but I did wear one to my leaving ball/prom/whatever at the end of school. I don't mind wearing suits, but full-on black tie just feels ridiculously extravagant and ostentatious for any occasion, and this one was no exception. Maybe it's the bow-tie... I really dislike those more than any other part of the ensemble.

I've suited up plenty of times for special occasions and such. I feel like a boss when wearing my suit and my old room mate even said that I should wear a suit 24/7 lol.
