Here are some photographs that I took, then edited. Opinions and Criticism, and don't take it easy on me,

I'll have the original picture, followed by my edit. I'm more focused on the quality of the edit, than the actual picture quality. These were taken from a phone, and honestly, the only one I actually like is the one of my shoes.

The Title is at the top, followed by the effects and subject, then how much I like it, on a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being the worst, and below that a comment, if needed.

I'm open for title suggestions and edit suggestions.

My personal opinion, is that if you want to really get serious about photography, I'd suggest you invest in a decent camera and lens. A phone isn't usually good for photography, more for mucking around.

The quality of the pictures are bad. Some have unnecessary movement which make the picture blurry and not looking very good. Your fish one is a good example for this. Also for better editing, better pictures should be taken. Your fish didn't really have a lot of light reflecting upon it, which could have made it better.

Secondly, Sharpening should NEVER be used on a photograph when using editing programs. You would usually want to sharpen the pictures yourself on the camera, so no editing would be required. I would also learn more advanced camera techniques, such as aperture, lighting and depth of field.

My personal favourite edit on the other hand, is probably your Sunrise picture. It's simple astounding to me that you can change a sunrise to simply look like a nice sunset instead.

    Overall, 3/10

I don't agree with this. I use Aperture as my photography organizer and processor and intelligent use of the sharpening tool can be beneficial to photo as long as you know what you're doing and you know enough to keep the photo looking natural.

Well, for my picture of the grapes, I think, in the bottom half anyways, that the sharpening looks better. I'm aware that the picture quality is bad, I'm more concerned about if I edited them to look better. Or if what I'm doing to them makes them look worse, I suppose.
And as for mucking around, that's really all I'm doing (:

Hey Zirkle38, I got your point! And I understand that.
I see you're having fun with what you're doing and you prolly know what you're doing. And that's important!
On the brighter side of Alternative's point, I got it as well. But it's really up to you...
As for me, you have a nice photo editing skill and you can keep it up for good.
Who knows one of these days, you will become a pro. ^_^

    Haha, thanks!
One of the problems with the internet, in my opinion, is that everyone takes everything so seriously. I'm doing this for fun, not for... well, I don't really know what other reason I'd be doing this for. But it's very not serious.
And I really appreciate the comments; I probably should have deleted the picture of grapes and retaken it. As for the fish, the aquarium didn't allow flash. But I suppose that's moot because phones tend to not have flash.
Regardless, thanks for all the tips. I'll remember these when I can actually get a decent camera. The fourteen year old employment rate has really dropped since the '30s ;D

I like the photo of the purple flowers a lot. It looks really bright and washed-out, but something about that gives it a surreal effect. It reminds me of the feeling I get when I first wake up and everything's sort of bright and hazy.

But I have to agree with Alternative, the sunrise/sunset photo is the best. I think if you were serious about photography, you could create some pretty awesome stuff with the right equipment. But for "mucking around" this is pretty neat.

You'd guess a phone? I'm pretty sure I said that but... yeah. And camera quality doesn't have much to do with the fact I can't keep my hand from shaking.

I'd have to say the purple flowers are my second favorite. And thanks. It seems to get my adventure in photography going, all I need is some actual equipment.
