I think he shouldn't, Pikachu is stronger then any Pokemon with ash in my opinion so definetly no.

IIRC, SPURT has some sort of reference to Ash during the Battle Frontier season for the Japanese dub. The theme song I believe it was. But you better ask Katsu for the reason though.
