Its a complaint thread, therefore I figured everyone was allowed to beef in here. Meaning you, poliwagged, are out of line here in terms of telling people to shut up and deal with it.
And I believe everyone has explained why they do not like the female character enough as it is. If their reasons do not sit well with you, then who cares? I've had beef with people bashing the Wii because of their graphics, but I got over it because people care about looks. I care about designs of characters and I have to say they ALL took a nosedive after GenIV. The Gym Leaders aside from Volkner (and Candice imo...due to hot dreams :P) look absolutely dreadful, and Flint of the Elite Four looks like Ronald McDonald knocked up somebody and didn't claim the child. Granted, Sydney and Phoebe both looked stupid enough as E4 members. And then the main male character looked absolutely ridiculous in platinum. Its like seeing someone trying to mix old age pirates with sneakers and a bad hat. I do NOT enjoy playing with a character like that. Call me shallow, idc. Breandan looked good in both RS and E, so what happened to the decent design? And considering this is a remake, a LOT of people wanted designs of characters that aren't completely drastic in terms of clothing or what not. Gold (fan name?) looks identical to his older self in the originals. Krys (fan name?) looks NOTHING like the original character and worse, looks so stupid its beyond belief. Her change is very drastic to the point where Sugi and Taji seemed to be on a drinking binge when they made her, but was sober enough to spare Gold's design.
Nostalgia may cloud some people's judgment from time to time (Megaman 9 is crap and people bash naysayers all the time) but hey, its a remake. Some people don't want complete overhauls of everything they felt was good about the originals. For example, I dont want to deal with Honey Trees in an updated version of a great game I enjoyed in my youth. Why? Because back in those games, Heracross was a beast. And still is. I don' want to have to go through six hours to try and get another one. People dont want the looks of characters changed too drastically because they want at least SOME resemblence to the original characters. Most of the peeps here are cool with Gold's design because its not a drastic change from his older counterpart. A lot of people here are not cool with krys's because of the opposite. Red in FRLG is a drastic change. He looks less like he did in RGBY. But imo, since it's not a BAD design, its nothing I got worked over about. Krys's new design...ugh.
You look at Resident Evil's remake on the Cube, the designs of the characters were updated, BUT they stayed intact for the most part. There were no drastic changes in designs. Bomberman Act Zero? GOOD GOD!
Good character design (to me) goes a long way into the appeal of a game, and I doubt I speak for everyone when I say DPP is crap in that department. I DO NOT want Silver (fan name again :P) to get a bad treatment in this regard. Green/Blue from FRLG wasn't a bad design (though I missed the longer sleeves and un-inverted clothing colors) and retained most of his appeal from his original counterpart, so thats what I want for Silver, and yes I WILL be vocal about that if they possibly F his design up.
Also, whoever said "adapt or die", my god...
Its like people are simply defending the character because people are complaining about it sometimes.
