  • If i'm not mistaken, Steve Blum (Toonami TOM) was originally the one tweeting #BringBackToonami and telling his followers to campaign for it, then AdultSwim began retweeting his tweets.
Eventually AS tweeted telling their followers to let them know if they want it back.
I'm probably mistaken on that, but I feel like I remember seeing that somewhere.

Also, I love the tagdef on #BringBackToonami
It means a revival of one's cherished memories.

  • Uh, hello, Adventure Time. D:
Nah, not everyone likes it like I do.

If they were to bring it back, I seriously hope they don't bog it down with American cartoons like Teen Titans and The Justice League.
Not that I didn't think those shows were OK, but I watched Toonami for the Anime.
Stuff like that is already shown enough as is, not to mention they have a Saturday morning line up anyways too so the more child based shows. Leave Toonami to the anime like we used to watch. And I actually liked Batman and Justice League when they showed it. But yeah that's not really anime per say.

Adult Swim likes to be immature idiots and troll.

They're continuing this joke WAY past April Fools. If that doesn't prove Adult Swim are immature idiots then I don't know what will.

BTW... I can't remember if I said it in my last post or not but I'll go ahead and say it again if I already said it anyway.

Adult Swim is JUST like Cartoon Network.

They don't give a **** about you or what their fans want.

Wow... I'm saying a lot of stuff that's IMO huh...?

    =/
I guess we can't be sure of it till we see this Saturday. And I think the joke was more of The Room not being aired then Toonami being aired.

And like I said in my last response, if they want to alienate all their fans by doing this then yes the are idiots. Until they prove that I can only say kudos to bringing it back.

I wouldn't count on seeing it this Saturday, unless they've already got all the voice work for it done. Which brings me to the other thing- I really don't see Steve Blum pulling something like this as a joke. If it were just AS, maybe.

  • I can see them doing it this Saturday but just use old bumbers and air old shows then when Steve is free have him record new things and airs new shows maybe this summer or fall. I know Steve is going to a con this weekend so he would be busy. Then again not sure how long it takes for him to record Toonami lines.

  • HELL YEAH! I GREW UP ON TOONAMI! i loved yu yu hakusho, and dragonball, all those old shows! if CN is pulling **** with here, their a bunch of *******s. i want to go back to my childhood........ if they screw me over, you will hear me *****ing all the way from the other side of the world. garen-damn-teed!
Let them hear from you then by giving feedback and send it when it matters.

Well they did something saying expect Bleach on Toonami next week, which may have been a joke of course.

I agree, they can already have his pre-recorded responses to the shows. But I'd like to think if they do have a return it would be a bit more grand so maybe not this weekend and it would allow for more feedback.

  • Though I know any revival of Toonami is better than nothing at all, I hope we get either Toonami Tom 2 or 3 back. Perhaps even Tom 1. x]
Tom 4 was just funky looking...

I'm just constantly watching Steve Blum and Adult Swim's Twitter at this point in separate tabs just waiting to hear something.

  • Sent feedback to Cartoon Network about this. My only regret? Not hearing about it until it was too late. :( Hopefully, I'll get to see it again. :)

  • You know I would not mind a "Best of Toonami" while they figure out the new lineup. I think its safe to say they can not rely only on old show reruns. I mean I can see Shippuden being what DBZ was and then maybe some other stuff that is newer. Another idea would be to air some of the shows from Funimation channel since I'm not sure how many people get that channel. Soul Eater and Nabari no Ou maybe?

  • I feel so behind, because apparently there's an online Toonami site going called Toonami Aftermath, that streams Toonami shows 24/7, but it's still.. not the same as the real thing being on TV. I mean, it's a fun idea, but it's super popular, and I think it shows how many people still care Toonami or lack there of. ; ;

I agree that they probably can't pull off an old line up, unless it were a placeholder like you said.
Soul Eater might be a little much, unless the new Toonami would be at a later block. Fairy Tail would be a nice fit on the new Toonami though, granted it actually comes back.

Also, Adult Swim's tweet about #BringBackToonami has been ReTweeted over 12000 times over the past 24 hours, and that's not including the massive number of people who have just been tweeting #BringBackToonami. I feel like that's a pretty good sign considering the amount of people who actually use Twitter.

  • When does everything we can hear anything from AS? I mean if it was not for there last tweet about letting them know if we want it back I would not expect much but they pretty much place the thing in front of us. not only that but even voice actors of anime have tweeted it like Travis Willingham and Kyle Hebert. I'm hoping we get some news before June or July.

  • AS tweeted last night, but it was something stupid and unrelated to Toonami. I think we might hear something soon, like at the end of the week, because I feel like CN/AS get the point that a lot of people want it back. #BringBackToonami is getting a constant flow of tweets every other couple seconds.
I hope they listen to us though! D:

I guess all it took was a message from CN acknowledging the fact that Toonami was a big thing at one time to get the fans all riled up and ready to fight to bring it back.
I would have gladly joined in some kind of petition long ago had I know that CN actually cared. :P

By the way, somebody compiled all of the Adult Swim/Toonami bumps together for those of you who missed it (Features some iffy language, but nothing horrible) :

Also, more famous voice actors are tweeting it now, as well as the highly famous TOKYOPOP Anime and Manga Publishing/Distributing/Licensing company is sending out information about it in their newsletter. :D
Guess they're seeing there's money to be made here.

  • I guess we'll see what happens this Saturday won't we?

Things have become quite interesting though that's for sure. I'll at least admit that anyway.

Also... I hate Twitter and/or FaceBook with every fiber in my being. I'm not making an account just for something like this sorry.

If nothing happens and it's just normal, stupid, MEGA FAIL Adult Swim...

    Well...

    You know what that means...

  • AdultSwim just tweeted:
#BringBackToonami We've heard you. Thank you for your passion and interest - stay tuned.

I hate how mono-tone AS always is. D:
I think that's a good sign though. Keep your fingers crossed everybody! :D

  • Alright, this is the last update i'm posting 'cause i'm sure i'm bothering MrCatDog by treating this thread like a live update thread. x]

Adult Swim has stated on their boards (In their Toonami section) that all of the #BringBackToonami supporters should watch this Saturday for their answer. Apparently this was some rumor being spread by a fake bump created by somebody, so disregard that, though I would watch to see if they do make any sort of statement regarding #BringBackToonami
It's sounding like Toonami is going to be replacing Adult Swim's entire Saturday block, which honestly makes a hell of a lot of sense. Mr. Blum seems pretty pleased by this. :)
This is pretty good news, as we'll be seeing a lot more Anime that isn't edited for younger audiences.
Also, Funimation has expressed their interest in the revival of Toonami, which is another good sign.

Hurrah to everyone who tweeted! Give yourselves a pat on the back.
Now, time to find a way to get my cable hooked up in my bedroom...

  • I was hoping for their old time slot along with Adult Swim still running their line up. But them being back is all that really matters to me. If Adult Swim is so opposed to anime then this is a blessing in disguise for them. That way they can keep FMA and Bleach on Toonami. I still won't believe this is %100 legit till I see it for myself, but if and when this happens I am going to be extremely elated as I was last Saturday night. I am just curious what their line up would be. I am going to assume they will at the very least have DBZ, Gundam Wing, Yu Yu Hakusho, Trigun, Outlaw Star, Big O, Tenchi. Considering that was airred on Saturday. I'm just hoping for some Kenshin and Inuyasha Final Act, G Gundam, and Zoids. Then have some new shows such as maybe Soul Eater, Darker Than Black, Gundam AGE, Shippudden, etc.

  • I too was hoping for their daily schedule to return, but apparently Cartoon Network has no part in the possible Toonami return.
According to some of the posters on Adult Swim's boards, Toonami was originally produced by Ghost Planet Industries, who are known today as Williams Street, the division of Cartoon Network that bring us all of Adult Swim.
Adult Swim is technically it's own cable network, they just share a channel with Cartoon Network, which is why Toonami is probably going to return sometime during their schedule rather than during Cartoon Network's broadcasting.

    I can't complain though! I'm excited. :D

There's still a couple of people unhappy on the AS boards, some with some requests they think would be much better:
I think CN should air Cowboy Bebop 24/7, in every language, at the same time, upside-down, and backwards.
