I kinda wish I'd stayed to watch the swimming now. I figured they would not bother having a race and just give all the medals to Phelps.

Japan messed up Britain's chance of a silver medal in gymnastics.
You could say that about the Chinese team as well, but it was all just the judges' fault for messing up in the first place.

I'm going to go watch the female basketball semi finals one week Thursday. Anyone else got tickets to see any of the events?

One of my friends has tickets for the tennis semi finals and he doesn't know any of the rules or ever watched a game of tennis. -.-

I don't think my family ever applied for tickets, I'm not too bothered to be honest.

Britain finally getting the golds in anyway.

Kohei Uchimura got gold in men's gymnastic all-around. And Danell Leyva for the USA got bronze. Excellent job to all of them. I'm not a big on gymnastics, but it was incredible watching the US women's gymnastics team win gold last night. And then Phelps achieving his 19th medal too was amazing to witness.

Good job to GB for getting their first gold medals too.

Lmfao that's basically the same as me then >____>

Although I have played a bit of Basketball before in fairness, so I know the basic rules and such but I haven't really watched any hardcore Basketball before. I'm tagging along with my brother and father who both know Basketball so yeah.

Watching France vs Tunisia in handball. I've never watched it before and it's actually a very exciting. WHY DON'T THEY SHOW MORE COVERAGE OF IT?!! It's freaking exciting to watch.

Gives me more reasons to hate NBC's coverage of the Games. (ironically watching on the stream on NBC's Olympic site lol)

France winning 9-7 which is who I'm cheering for.

You'd be right, Nixon -> source.

People who had paid loads for those tickets must be so annoyed, watching such a... farce.

Whilst they have a point that the new system is flawed, it isn't an excuse for such low tactics - personally I think their coaches (who came up with the idea) should get a ban from the Olympics too.

Well the people who went to that match were demanding their money back apparently. Not surprising after going to that rubbish game.:pirate:

The tennis tickets would be of great value to most of the people in my friendship circle though so it's different. :P

I found it pretty easy to get a round up of the necessary Basketball rules, techniques and whatever. Even just a quick brush through the wikipedia article could be a good help.

I'm kinda annoyed at what's gone on with women's gymnastics, what with that one gal, Jordyn Wieber, not being allowed to compete because of a 2-athleres-per-country rule, even though she had the 4th place qualifying score. I get that they don't want any one country to overwhelm the competitions, but this just doesn't seem fair.

Then in the all-around Aliya Mustafina and Alexandra Raisman tied for third place, but the judges did some kind of jiggery-pokery to give the medal to Mustafina. They should have both been given bronze medals. It's especially annoying since there was a tied score in gymnastics back in Beijing and after that the rules were changed to allow shared medals. They kept the jiggery pokery though, which is just stupid. If they're okay with shared medals, why not just give them when the scores tie? It's not like it happens that often anyway.

Britain are up to 8 gold medals which is pretty damn good as it puts us 4th. We even have a small chance of finishing 3rd eventually.

The US and China are keeping it interesting, they're still only a gold apart.

The BasketBall match UK VS France was awesome. It was a very tight game, there was suspence until the end. The last 3 points were amazing.
I'm pretty disappointed by the british audience though. Shame on it for booing the French Team, that was ridiculous. Glad we won anyway, haha. ^^

That's great but my dear Australians have more silver than other medals... just one gold and 6 bronze. The other 10 - all silver.

I'd have to admit the Aussies' performance is not what I was expecting.

And yeah, British winning the rowing events again... at least some Aussies got bronze medals out of it.

Yeah, I watched one of the rowing events with the Aussie-Brit rivalry and when the Aussies got silver, they looked so dejected. Ian Thorpe has been doing a fair bit of commentary for the BBC and I've been surprised at how upbeat he's been, given how not-great it's been going for Australia so far.

Adding to that how Team GB slaughtered the Australian Team in the team pursuit cycling yesterday (and then even more so the US team today).

How are we so good at Cycling/Rowing and so (Olympic) mediocre at the others?

It seems so odd given the complete lack of focus on either sport until the Olympics come around.

But we're starting to come away with 3rd so I guess we're the 'best of the rest' at the moment since China and the US were always going to run away with it.

Congrats to Michael Phelps on winning 22 medals and becoming the most decorated Olympian of all time! Nice to be able to witness him win his final swim in his career.
