Would you like to be a moderator?

Be honest! Would you someday like to moderate a forum here on PC? If so, which section would you like to moderate? Do you think that you would be good at your job? What are some tactics that you would use?

For current moderators, tell me about your thoughts before you got chosen!

The first rule of modding is you don't talk about modding. The second rule of modding is modding doesn't exist.

I'd love to be a mod, I hate seeing people post the same exact things 5 times a day. And then all of those double posts ugh (while I know most of the time they aren't intentional they still bug the heck out of me). I would really like to moderate Video Games, Chit Chat Cafe, or Challenges since those are the three sections I spend the majority of my time in though I'd be grateful to be in any section. I think I'd do pretty good at my job since the only thing I do with my life anymore is sit on PC with every section open and constantly refreshing to see if anyone has posted anything new.

I'd love to be a mod. Any Pokemon section that's not X or Y based, the Challenges, CCC, and I'd really like The Red Carpet as well. Well, really, super mod would be best. I kinda spread around the forum activity, so it's hard to put it to one place. xD

Honestly, I know I'd be a good mod tbh. I've been a moderator on countless forums and it's a pretty simple task. Just stay mature and deal with everything in a positive manor. This would definitely be the biggest forum, but I've been on some pretty big ones as a moderator. I think I'd do fine.

No matter how much opportunity I have to become a moderator, I personally don't want to. I'm very inconsistent so I tend to disappear from one forum to another. Although I don't really like double posts (despite being a victim to lag at times) and all those spam I see when I'm browsing, and being a moderator might help me deal with this. But with all the other tasks I have to deal with, and being the irresponsible person I am, I probably won't be a good mod. P:

But hey, Forum Games and Pokemon Trivia if given the chance.

I thought the general rule was that if you asked to be a mod, you get rejected immediately or something?

You aren't asking, though, you're just stating your opinion of the matter :P

Personally, not at the moment. I did quit for a reason lol. Life's just become too hectic for me to really be able to focus on moderating a section on a website with the attention I felt it deserved. That may or may not change in the future, but if it does, I'd definitely like the position back. I wouldn't have let go if I didn't think I needed to. Being a mod here was extremely fun, especially when it's a section like Café. And if I were to ever come back, it'd definitely be Café.

The position of super mod is something I'd like, not gonna lie, but during my tenure as mod, I was well aware of my lack of input into the community discussions. That's really my own fault aha. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I feel had I given more input into the community activities, as well as branched out a bit more, I'd have been a viable candidate. And hey, it's still possible. People here have been promoted straight to smod before, it can happen again :P If it ever does happen to me, it won't be anytime soon, but I like being optimistic.

Oh... Well... I wouldn't be opposed to being a mod. I'd like to help out more if given the chance. I have the time anyways.

I think becoming a mod would be an awesome achievement for me should it happen in the near future, and given I used to mod a forum (that sadly died) a year ago I'm sure I can do well in the position.

Given PC is big, it would be a good test for me to help others out (which people seem to have been talking about me lately) and after the massive turnaround from a noob who thought she'd never survive to a full-on helping hand member definitely shows. As for my ideal section, I'd probably be good with either The Welcome Lounge or most of the Pokemon sections since that's where most of my activity has been leaning towards lately.

I'm pretty much imagining what my reaction would be should I suddenly get the bold blue coat.

From personal experience, being a mod is fun but sometimes the responsibilities will get to you in the long run.

In 2011 I modded The Welcome Lounge. It was...something that I never expect to get given that I barely started to get active in that section at the time, but that encouraged me to be active a little more. It was also due to the fact Hiidoran needed backup. xD To put it short on how I became one, I fainted at the PM invite, screamed at the screen, and just...waited for my name to change to bold.

I resigned because I lost interest at the time, as well as I needed to catch up on life. I didn't want to focus on modding as much anymore.

AND THEN WE FAST FORWARD TO FEBRUARY where I got re-modded once again, this time in Fan Clubs. I literally sobbed at the skype convo. At this point in time, I managed to set my time straight, I can access PC anywhere, from phone to tablet to school computer, and all that. And FC&G is a laid-back section, so it's less stressful for me.

To be quite honest, becoming a moderator in a forum like PokeCommunity is something I never thought I'd be. I was afraid I would mess up, be rough, and be terminated on the first day. Being a moderator is like...a department manager position at a store. You're in charge of your own section and what happens in said section. If something happens in your section, or if someone has a question regarding your section, people will look up to you. It's a fun thing to do, and if you love to help people, you will love being a mod. However, bottom line is that..it's not an easy job.

No. I used to actually admin a small but active board for a while, and it actually got kinda boring. If I was asked to become one though, I'd probably take it up anyway. Preferably video games board or something.

Rule 11: There are no real rules about moderation either - enjoy your ban.

Well...yes and no (mostly yes though :p). Of course, it's a forum where I'm literally surrounded by lovely, happy people, and I would absolutely be honoured to be taking up a position of being able to aid users and things like that. But, I wouldn't really know what to do D: I've never really been in a position like that. I'm sure it's not much to learn, but fear gets a good grip of you :<

If I were to be a mod, my desired section would probably be either Pokemon General, Fourth Generation Gaming or PGC. The topics those sections discuss things I really like, things I understand, so it would be pretty radical to be someone who helps out in those sections.

I'd probably look at the request to become one, and be awe-struck though.

if i were to get a request to be a mod, that would be just great and i'd take up the position, of course. i reckon i could pull my weight. however, it's not like i'm actively seeking to be a mod... nor am i expecting to ever be a mod. take everything as it comes

Before, I used to be like any private message or notification was a mod calling. I used to really really want to mod a forum. Now... well, not so much. Because of three reasons:

    1) That forum which I wanted to mod is gone now.
    2) I can't see myself dedicated to any forums, I just post around.
    3) If I became a mod, I would be a lazy one because I don't check this community as regularly as I used to.

If I do get the offer somehow, I think all my three reasons would soon be non-existent, as a result of it happening.

To be honest, I wouldn't have the time. I've been here 5 years and not even broken 1000 posts, which is clear indicator of how much time I spend here. Given the chance though I think if prefer Chit Chat Café or Culture & Media.

I'm not sure i'm active enough or contribute enough here to even be considered for a moderator position.

I've got experience; i've been a moderator/global moderator on other sites in the past, though neither of those sites were as large or as active as PC is.

So, would I like to be a moderator here? Well, if I was asked if i'd like to join the staff, i'd say sure, i'd give it a go. But i'm not actively looking to become a moderator, so it's unlikely i'll ever apply. I'm happy enough just posting here as a member of the community.

I'm pretty new to pokemon and this forum. It would be nice to be a mod... But I want like 2-4 years of experience meeting all the members, getting familiarized with pokemon and how mods work, make more friends, etc. After I became more well known, respected, etc, I would apply for moderator or however you do it. I would love to mod the d and d, chit chat cafe, or pokemon x and y.

If I were asked to become a mod I'd absolutely turn it down. I don't have a whole bunch of time as it is, and it seems like a lot more work than I would be bothered to do.

I do have a question though if anyone can answer; Are the mods here paid? Or is it completely voluntary?

Considering that I have the experience of being a staff for 3 different Battle Servers (and 2 of them are down as of now), I might take up to the position if I'm asked to become one. My ideal sections are Pokémon-related sections and Chit Chat Café, because they are the sections that I enjoy a lot.
