  • Yeah I was thinking that. You mean an island in the upper left corner? Or like split the C horizontally to have more water space to work with?
    Ahhhh, I see I see. That would give a little more space to randomly roam around in for some juicy side quests. What do you think about the left side of the map, around where the red dot is and the upper left-most area? I was planning on having mountains there but do you think some other side quest areas would go good there?
    Golly gosh you did use the star idea, I feel honored to have contributed. Now put me in the credits in big bold letters. :D

    Aight, I'm just not sure on how to go about refining it. I think the right side of the map is fairly solid, I just worry about the left side because of how... minimal it looks compared to the right. I'm also unsure if this is big enough for a full region or if I need more dots (cities/villages/places of importance) for more gameplay time. Halp master mapper.
    Alright, I got here a rougher than rough cut of what I've planned my world map to look like. Gimmie yo critiques and notes and stuff brah, I want this to be a good map. (You start off in the lowest point of the map, not including the underground segment)

    Hmm... not bad. Because It's a crescent shape it looks a tad more natural than, say, a star, so it actually doesn't look half bad. I'll probably be stealing the crescent shaped idea too, just sayin. :3
    But... I don't wanna be a minion! What happens if I break but instead of being built back I just explode like a nuke? And everyone dies in my wake?!

    So lemme get this straight... you told me to not map things based off of shapes... then you map an entire island based off of a shape... and it turns out to be dope. Wat.

    Yeah... uh... I didn't exactly plan out a world map yet. Was I supposed to plan one out?

    I'm...I dunno. I'm finishing up this big website project I am working on, since today (friday) is the last two working day of the month and I need to finish this now. :/

    I think the real question here is did you send him the dirty pictures or not?

    Also, I have yet another question related to mapping but not kinda. How do you design levels so that the play will be walking through the level at least twice if not three times, each with a different goal in mind. Like the player passes through a town, takes a route and then gets to another town, but finds a shortcut that allows them to bypass the route and just go from town to town. Or like in viridian city where originally the player comes to the town to get oak's parcel but later down the line they return to get the 8th gym badge. Somehting like that.
    Dang it, alright, there goes my grand idea. Now I'm back to square one.

    Shame he left, he seemed like he actually knew what he was talking about. Good luck finding a sucker that will do your other crazy ideas.
    Because this grand idea that nobody really thinks of (only an insane person would think about modifying behavior bytes) gets ripped from your hands and claimed by someone who isn't even here anymore.

    Aight, lemme throw you an idea at you. So you walk through this narrow corridor and then you go through this door and you're in this medium-ish room with 4 other narrow corridors connected to it and the entire rooms resembles a star. Yes? No? Quit mapping forever?
    Hahahahahahahahahaha that would be sad if it weren't so funny.

    But floors brah, floors. How am I supposed to make a multi-floored cave?
    Well I can do the titlescreen (hopefully), but I never read ep!c's tutorial on setting scripts to water tiles so idk about that. You make all the complicated scripts anyways. D:

    Ooooohhhhhhhh, for a second there I thought you were doing some kind of Weeds-esque story line about a drug dealer. Now it kinda sounds more like Breaking Bad...?
