  • There are quite a lot of people who say that yes. When they do, I can only agree to them. I'll take your advice to heart, and just do it. I'll see how far I get. ^^

Well if you're one who learns by doing, then gaming is the perfect way to study. If you already know a few words - enough to figure out most sentences, then you can learn new words just by using the context they're in, and if you, in games only have French to go with, that might help you out.
I do agree, reading French is easier than speaking indeed. I've never been good at French (neither am I interested).

Well at least you're open minded. It is hard to change such indeed, but you're intelligent enough to question what you're told. I'm sure you'll get there.
I'd love to learn how to do it though. I'll give it a try later on and really put my characters to life. I'm pretty sure it will help me write my story too. Gee, writing is really fun but extremely hard. A challenge worth taking, I should add.

Yeah, in games you just learn to recognize things by what happens, it's a really different learning experience than through books. Then when the social aspect of the game comes in, there was my dad who would translate things for me.
We were reminiscing over that fact not too long ago. He told me that he had to tell me less and less until they were only a few words when I was 9. When I was 11 he started asking me what things meant, hehe. I've been playing Unreal Tournament all those years, of course on and off with Renegade, Tekken and Colin McRae Rally in the mix and a few other games.

I agree, although I was reading a romance manga about a crossdressing guy who's in love with this girl. He asks her out without crossdressing, so you could imagine her face when he shows up dressed like a girl. I like the manga because it tackles a lot of social taboos. There are gay people in it and lesbians as well. And not everything is about roses there, they have their share of trouble actually with society disapproving of their relationship. It's just a light read though, that's mainly why I like it. It's nothing too serious, yet it is if you can see the underlying messages.
Its debate is pretty large haha. its a really powerful pokemon and his stats are too high and due to its ability it was put in ubers if u don't take It out I will sweep half ur team :P

lol while everyone was doing the red and RGSS stuff with black and white I was playing emerald and I didn't understand anyting lol I got so lost with that stuff!

Swoobat=terrible defense although it has speed people can outspeed it by those scarfs and other items ;)
it is haha although its outspeeded by many and its defense is utterly terrible so it only get 1-3 turns in and its my rain dance starter haha so then I either thunder or air slash it knows u turn which isn't all to helpful so I gotta switch that out for something. oh btw do u ever wanna go against my ground team? ik both electric and ground are pretty uneven to grass but I like to try haha.
It makes sense that you've been planning him out for months as detailed as it is. I think I should do more like that for my characters as well. All I know for my characters are rough background stories, general traits, personalities and habits, but it makes it all a bit grey nevertheless.

It's a shame that your father doesn't acknowledge games. I owe most of my knowledge of English to games like Unreal Tournament. I'm better at English than I am at Dutch, despite Dutch being my native language.

Oh wow. In mangas I really don't mind romance, I often even like it. In novels though I'm not a fan of the genre. In novels I prefer adventure, sci-fi and thrillers. Jeffery Deaver is a writer I completely adore, his thriller detective books are amazing.
Well what I meant by needs are more of need for privacy or need for friendship and so on. :)
I'm quite impressed by your level of detail too, it's like you're describing a family member and I can perfectly picture his quirks and (thanks for Fairy's drawing) his looks, but it seems like you have every bit of his character planned out. That's impressive.

Yeah, my dad and I play games like WoW together now, we're sitting 2 meters away from each other in the living room. :) It's really great. ^^

If you want to read that'll be great, but it's not your preferred genre so if you drop it mid-read I understand. ^^
    But thanks anyway. :)
    LOL that's good!

GRR I HATE IT BEING BANNED but u can still use it in "official tourneys :p

haha it doesn't always matter I used to own a trade shop and everything but seriously 7 pms a day got out of hand! I have like over 150 shinies though XD

Now I own a pokemon club which is hard enough running! haah

Hehe I love using them in like ou and people underestimating them! I wish emlga was alittle faster but its better than average! Dedenne is just a choppy little pokemon that wants to tak down dem dragons haha!
I really like what you've got there, I like how Whiskers slowly "evolves" so to speak. You've written a very compelling prologue, which raises my curiosity and interest.
So Whiskers being similar to a human teenager, does he develop similar needs? Does his intelligence make him arrogant?

Indeed in this context a rat makes sense. :)
Fairy did a superb job on drawing Whiskers, please send her my compliments!

Ahh, I sort of understand what you mean.
Although not related to writing, I feel the same about Unreal Tournament 1999, a fantasy shooter game that I started playing when I was (really) young. It was through that game that I and my father met people who have become life long friends of ours. It's been over 15 years and we still game together, so Unreal Tournament also has a special place in my heart.

Hmm, yeah I've gotten a few ideas how I could have a town reflect the poor choices of their reigning Queen. Although I'm still not quite convinced because if that happens Arithos and Serena are still the center of it all. I want to avoid having the world revolve around them.
Story wise, they should just be a few side characters, despite being the main characters. Does that make sense?

So what I'm missing for now is variety.
If you've read my story up to there, what are some things you as reader would like to know? What are the questions I have raised?
I've been meaning to, but haven't read 1984 yet, but I do know what you mean - it definitely sounds intriguing. So, how did you come up with the rat? Why is it allowed to live in the society and what would the government gain from it? You're making me want to read it, honestly. :)

District 9 was great yes. So that's a light sci-fi style, I never knew. :)

The problem is that the story is kind of turning into an Arithos & Serena's Adventure. The world is a lot more dynamic and there's a lot happening behind the screens, as shown in Venn's section.
I'm kind of lost on how to:
    -Keep the story interesting
-Create a dynamic and moving world
-Keep Arithos and Serena key to the story

The third party perspective would partly solve these, depending how I go about it. It's the matter of how that confuses me.

However, Arithos and Serena are still key characters (well, Serena especially), and their travel/getaway from the council will be a major factor in the story's development (the Council's chase leads them to desolate and abandoned places. One of which are the ruins of an ancient town, hinted by the book in Arthas' room "City in Ruins". Its library holds ancient knowledge about the world - including Argoth. That's where Venn and Arithos & Serena's plot comes together).
Lol ya u need pokebank and umm poketransfer which is free so :p and u need x or y.

Patience is something i need more of haha sometimes i do sometimes i dont but generally i only quit if my strategy doesnt work and theirs does. Talonflame goes down! 6th gen pokemon are all too powerful! :p.

I <3 whimsicott as a fairy mega sableye can go do something im sick of using like spikes or something and magic bounce D:

Lol u can always ask RNC she does it for free :3

I love using the weak pokemon and then kill people with them when they se Emolga theyre like hes PU hes not gonna do anything... air slash crit.... Air slash.... Flinch..... Thunder... Death lol all my favs are under ou haha but some of them work.
That actually sounds interesting. This dystopian society, what is "wrong" with it?
Your main genre is sci-fi, then? In terms of writing/planning?

I'm still kind of stuck on my own story. Phantom suggested a third party perspective - another character that follows the main characters, but I'm still unsure how to go about it. (If you haven't read my story then just disregard this paragraph, I wouldn't mind :) )
Basically what I was thinking is that the Council could send out a spy who follows Serena and Arithos, but I'm not sure how to implement that, since in the part I did write of chapter 2, they are outside town in a forest, and the Council had lost them.
I just read it! Thank you so much for the review! I'm definitely going to take everything you said into consideration. I really liked a lot of the points you made, my personal favorite being the fact that I was trying too hard. A friend of mine told me the same thing but you showed me and I will work on that, along with the other criticisms.

I'll try to get my response to the review done within the next couple of days. But truthfully it's gonna get busier what with the new semester around the corner. Until next time!
Wow that stinks its stupid u need pokebank :p

OMG i get so crazy when i turn on the battle timer and it says 270 secs left im like uhh and then its 20 seconds left and im like yes yes and they attack then they do that for every turn im like i give up already u win grrr.

I cant stand the people that bring ubers into monotype its like unfair and frustrating and i hate mega sableye most annoying poke ever lol.

Lol idk how to clone either RNC does it for me and honestly its no work haha im giving away little pokes that i traded level 2 fletchlings and bunnelbys for haha but thats alright.
Well i get my shinies cloned lol and trade them so im like looking for two more if my electric team and im all set :p

That sounds really fun i dont consider anyone my rival on PC thingy yet but ik everyine already so ya lol. But i kinda think archer99 will be my rival cause hes pretty powerful and i on,y beat him once and he best me once so we r even but he will win next time. The only reason i win in some things is cause im just learning to stall which means i do it often lol. I could always find someone to breed a team for u in exchange for some of my 5-6iv competitive shinies :p
Well, a good way not to make it sound fake is to say the word 'loss' a little bit softer than the rest of the sentence, as if you have trouble saying it.

True, it would be. Let me know if you want my help, perhaps we can do it together and plan out an actual good story. ^^
I know no one on there lol
I joined the torunament at the right moment in the tourney room and used my best team i ever had and umm idk winged it i honestly have no idea what i did just made up a strategy and its worked so ya lol. I never breed like i said i make people do that for me lol. Thats e advantage to having shinies its like POKEDOLLARS lol. Awh thanks im in like no groups although im known better now on the PC battle server and whatnot. I really am trying to get into it as frustrating as it is and monotype is hard lol!
