Name: Axella 'Axel' Mason

Appearance: Axel can at the first sight be pretty intimidating. She's tall, with black, straight hair nine out of ten times pulled into a high ponytail, no bangs. Her eyes are a striking gray matched with a long face and prominent, almost hawk-like nose. To finish it Axel has rather dark, full lips that seem almost out of place on the very strict and unforgiving face. She has both of her ears pierced with small silver hoops, and she has a third stud at the top of her left ear. Her built is slender but with a certain amount of muscle. She's not weak, and especially her arms are quite strong indeed. The rest of her is all long and slender, and she has a well-toned stomach with a smaller chest and rather broad shoulders for a girl. All in all she could be called beautiful, but in a very unique and rather intimidating way. Especially since she spends most of her time glaring.
No matter the weather, Axel is most always seen wearing a pair of dark denim skinny jeans. They're easy and functional and just look nice. Over top of that she wears a pair of black boots with a small heel, not that she needs much of a hight booster. Her shirt is white with short sleeves and a boatneck. It has a print of green vines down the right side of it, though the rest is just plain white. Overtop of it she wears a black leather jacket whose sleeves are mostly pushed up to her elbow. When the tropical climate of Hoenn really sets in she'll take it off, but she prefers wearing it, heat or not. Lastly she has a yellow sash around her hips, stuck through the loops of her jeans. Attached to this sash are several rings that hold her filled Pokeball.
Lastly is her bag, a brown leather messenger bag that looks incredibly plain from the outside. On the inside it is lain with dark red fabric and has a ton of small pockets to stuff things in, it's very useful for organization, taken that you know where everything went. Axel keeps the things she might need quickly in a large pocket on the outside, things like the Pokedex or her empty Pokeball, her cellphone, the likes. The rest is all stuffed safely inside.
Personality: Axel is very independent, and she likes to keep it that way. She doesn't like accepting help, and prefers to remain stubborn and do things herself. Even if it's apparent that she
can't do it herself, she'll still try. The only ones she'll voluntarily accept help from is her Pokemon, and that only because they are like her family, and she respects them that much. Most of them anyway. Besides the stubborn streak she's also a bit rash, she often jumps into things unprepared. Paired with the rashness goes a sense of hubris, she believes she could do anything, while in reality the opposite is truth. Overconfidence is not something Axel's a stranger to. Yet it's something she won't learn from, as she'll keep rushing head-first into things, independently.
Winning is something that has a lot of importance to Axel. She's very determined and will fight to the bitter end for anything. She can't stand losing, and therefore is an incredibly sore loser. Axel can also be rather irresponsible sometimes, especially when battles are concerned. She tends to lose herself with cold hard tactics and not thinking about the well-being of her Pokemon. She does love them dearly though, they're the closest she has to a family. She loves spoiling them and even sometimes babies them a little. She's definitely determined to make the most of her journey, and she her creatures be as tough as she can possibly make them.
History: Axel's mother was a single mom who accidentally ended up getting pregnant. She was supposed to give up the baby after birth for adoption but when she saw the baby she selfishly needed to keep it, and vowed to change her life around from the current life of alcohol and irresponsibility. That didn't last long. By the time Axel was three years old her mother drunk herself into death, and Axel was placed into an orphanage. She doesn't remember anything from the time she lived with her mother, though she supposes it's not something she'd want to remember anyhow. In any case she was placed into an orphanage in Rustboro city.
The orphanage was pretty nice, the people were really kind to her, and Axel learned quickly that she had to be tough to be respected there, with so many youngsters running wild. She did what she was supposed to do with an iron determination, going to school and getting the best grades she could possibly get. They weren't too high, since she had little patience for such things, but she did her best. When other kids decided to escape the orphanage and go on a trainer journey, Axel decided to stay. She had it just fine, and she had grown attached to the place.
Still, as she approached the age of 18 she would soon have to move out and get a job. Axel was at a loss as to what she might pursue, she really had no idea. But the councilors talked to her about it, and once again the subject of a Pokemon journey came up. And, since Axel had no other alternatives anyway, she decided to go with it.
