Alright, i'm asking a question about palette editing, since it didn't get answered :P.

When I open my rom in APE I find the offset for the palettes and change them, but then the palette is still the same when I open it in AdvanceMap.

    Here are my steps:
1: Open my ROM in VBA.
2: Go outside a house and view it in palette viewer.
3: Save BG and load it in APE. (After loading ROM)
4: Find the palette i'm looking for and change it.
5: Open my ROM in AdvanceMap, but the palettes are still the same.

erm.. can sombody here help me out? the game is pokemon
    ruby.

You have to use unLZ for this.
    Open unLZ.
    Load your rom.
    Find the professor sprite.
Choose if you want to use black and white or the colours.
Save it as a bmp file.
    Load it in Bitmap.
Delete it but make sure that some of the black from the back is visible. Though it would be better to make a palette of what the colours are.
Copy the image your using into it.
Use the eyedropper and select the black background.
    Fill the rest with it.
    Load your picture into unLZ.
Make any changes to make your picture the right colours.
Open it in VBA and see if it worked.

There are many offsets, so it could be the wrong one. It tends to be the last offset in the hex editor.

I didn't use a hex editor, I used Advance Palette Editor and a VBA :P.

Hex is probably an easier way to get an offset. Some are below...

    Ruby/Sapphire
    Pallete2: E94352
    Pallete3: E94382
    Pallete4: E943A0
    Pallete5: E943C6

    Fire Red/Leaf Green
    Pallete0: EA1B60
    Pallete2: EA1B80
    Pallete3: EA1B90
    Pallete4: EA1BEA

    Hopefully these help.

    Thanks for the palette.
But the palette only changes the trees, what do I do to change the grass and non-grass tiles.

    Thank you very much.
But what number is the professor sprite? I can't find it.

Hm.. I don't know about Ruby. I think it should be 500-750.
    Probably around those numbers.

In FR/LG it should be anywhere between 250-500.

I'll see if I can make a list of the unLZ number for some important people.

  • Hi I've got a question.

How do you edit/make your own warping tiles?
(Like if you step on a warp on a plain grass-tile nothing happens. But if you step on a door/cave you warp)
