I actually have two things to talk about. One of them actually being the topic, and another one being a Final Fantasy VII theory.
Theory
Square has mentioned that they want the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII to run on until it's twenty fifth anniversary. And a few stuff could happen during that time.
A rumour I heard about quite recently is War of the Ancients, taking place 2,000 years before any of the events prior to Final Fantasy VII. That is one thing that could happen. And with Crisis Core currently being the earliest out of the official compilation of FF7, there is a game between Crisis Core and Final Fantasy VII called Before Crisis only released in Japan.
Crisis Core was originally going to be a PSP Port of Before Crisis, but then Yoshinori Kitase recommended changing the main character to Zack Fair because of his pre-determined fate in Final Fantasy VII, thus Crisis Core is born. Before Crisis was mobile game only released in Japan staring the Turks as the main characters. Yoshinori Kitase, the same person who recommended changing the main character of Crisis Core to Zack, has been interested in developing a port of Before Crisis onto the Nintendo 3DS. All though I don't see this happening any time soon. I also think it'll probably be on PS Vita and not Nintendo 3DS.
There were also a few Final Fantasy VII animes. There was "Last Order" which covered the events of the Nibelheim Incident and the ending of Crisis Core. There was also another one called "On the way to a smile" which covered the gap between Final Fantasy VII and Advent. Children. Both of these animes still need an official translation.
Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII is also here. In the game's secret ending after collecting all of the "G Files",
.
And finally, Square-Enix has poked fun at a Final Fantasy VII remake. Could they actually mark the twenty fifth anniversary of Final Fantay VII with a HD Remake?
So we could be getting...
> War of the Ancients
> Before Crisis port to the Nintendo 3DS / PS Vita
> Official English translations of Last Order and On the way to a smile.
> A Final Fantasy VII HD Remaster.
But this all just my speculation. None of this is confirmed as official, at all.

What are your favourite games by Square that are not FF or KH?
My favourite games made by Square would be some of their older classics. Namely the Chrono franchise. Chrono Cross in my opinion being the superior game because...PARALLEL DIMENSIONS!!!!!! =D Yeah. I am a sucker for anything parallel dimensions and time travel. I'm more interested in Parallel Dimensions / Worlds to be honest, though.
Chrono Trigger is beautiful too. It's pretty damned overrated and it's honestly deserved the overrated title, unlike Chrono Cross being fairly unerrated.
Another game in the Chrono franchise that never made it out of Japan is called BS Radical Dreamers. It's a bit of an interquel between Chrono Trigger and Cross kind of, but it doesn't get covered good, in my opinion. Atleast it did inspire the first visit to Viper Manor in Chrono Cross! :3
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars for the SNES is another classic. This game is probably one of the best games I have ever played. All though I admittedly would not put it near the top of my list of favourite RPG's. It's a shame that Square didn't work with them on Paper Mario or Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, though. With Nintendo's I.P.'s being open for use by third parties, they should definitely team up again and make a sequel to Super Mario RPG!
And finally, Bravely Default! It's got everything for a great RPG! Job System, Well-Developed Characters, something remotely close to free-roaming. It's a spoiler though.

Spoiler:
you see Genesis picking up Weiss and then Genesis says "now is not time for slumber, brother. We have unfinished work" or something alone those lines. We could see a game starring this unlikely duo as the main antagonists. Also, keep in mind that Crisis Core was not planned out by this point in time. This is were Genesis made his debut.
