When i played HGSS, I looked at it very differently from platinum.... in a good way.
The games just had a whole different feel than DPP.
NOt to say DPP are bad, I just think that HGSS was somehow better.

I can't say that I liked it more than Platinum, because I never played Platinum. However, I do enjoy the Johto region more than the Sinnoh region, and I've played my Soul Silver a lot more than I have played my Pearl. I don't think it was a let down at all. It was almost perfect, with only the casino and no VS Seeker to be a problem. But the VS Seeker wasn't in the originals, so meh.

In some ways I found it a let down, but in others I preferred it to Platinum etc. I prefer HGSS because of the Pokeathelon, and the touch screen menu, and all the Pokemon you can get. But then when I play on Platinum I like it as you have the trainer house on the Battle Frontier, where you can compete against the Gym Leaders without having to call them up at specific times and on specific days.
Overall I think that I like both but for different reasons, but HGSS were far away from being a let down.

HG/SS is just too awesome to be a let down lol That and you can listen to the old themes with the GB sounds key item! XD Its only the graphics and Pokemon that are new.

    I love this game! ^_^

HG/SS were far from a disappointment for me. Great remakes of great games with plenty of improvements overall that made it even more worthwhile.

Having played through Platinum and being about 75% through SoulSilver, I'd say it's like comparing apples to oranges. Platinum without a doubt made some great strides for the Pokemon franchise. The graphics, the music, the sound quality, the story, and the touch screen were all fantastic additions to the Pokemon franchise. That being said, I'm an old Pokemon fan. I got my first Pokemon game, Pokemon Blue, at the age of eight, and I'm nearly twenty years old and still playing those games. My favorite Pokemon games were Gold and Silver way back in the day. Ruby and Sapphire, though they had better graphics and a more involving storyline, I found to be unable to match R/B/Y or G/S/C. Platinum was much better than R/S/E, but when I found out about the Gold/Silver remakes, all of a sudden my ten-year-old self came out. I love these games, and if anything they've improved what Gold, Silver, and Crystal were.

I actually have a lot of mixed feelings about this.

When I heard that the games were in the making and going to come out (I think it was back in August sometime...) I simply couldn't wait. Like, G/S/C were my first Pokemon games, and in my opinion, were by far the best. They weren't even beaten by the newer generation games. When the 30 day countdown hit, I counted them off in my head. I thought about it, like, every day. I was excited.

But it just wasn't what I thought it would be. From past re-make disappointments (Tomb Raider Anniversary), I decided that a complete re-make of a game with same story, lines, and everything with only better graphics may be boring. So I accepted the fact that HG/SS were going to be a bit different. Well, I kind of figured that they would have contests, stuff to play with the the Poketch, and for god's sake, I still can't figure out why the got rid of the VS. Seeker. I re-rode the S.S. Anne for a third time, and none of the trainers even wanted to fight me. No one seemed to want to do anything. There was no where to train. I got higher leveled than everyone quickly, then suddenly when I got to Red I had NO ONE to train with but wild Pokemon. It was awful.

I loved it for nostalgia, but the problems stated above (and a couple others, but none as bad as those really) kind of shot the fun out of it for me.

Ok, for one, we haven't seen following since Yellow, and that was just a Pikachu.
the graphics are epic, and It's placed in the best region. EVER.

The GB player item was genius, My favorite theme in GSC from what little I did play of it was Violet/Olivine City. HGSS remix was OK, but I prefered the original. Plus, although I never got this far on the original games, I prefer the original Mt. Silver/Indigo Plateau themes just a little bit more.
While it probably WAS more enjoyable for people who didn't play much of GSC, like me, even the people who did play those games should've gotten a good kick out of it.

since it was a remake, i expected to be just as good as the first one, so to me getting all the extra stuff in the game is a PLUS but is keep to the story so its fine

I don't think the games were a let down. It was a remake, so we can understand why it's not as newish as the Platinum plot was. There's no distortion world in HG/SS, but Platinum has one map, no Pokemon following you, and it's not Johto.

    I prefer HG/SS c:

I liked HGSS only because i can walk with my pokemon but Platinum was better why?

    1. Nice and Short (HGSS is so long I change my team every 2 seconds and Im still not satisfied)
    2. Easy to train (HGSS is under powered, in Pt my poke were on 65 b4 the E4 100 after rematches which took 3 days per pokemon but HGSS 51 b4 the E4 73 after Kanto and gymleader rematches are weak on lvl 50-60s)
    3. VS SEEKER!!
    4. Pretty much Chaos Ruch said everything else

does anyone find that platinum was better than HG and SS i mean i love the remake and and all just seems like platinum was better made so what do you think?

Im sorry, but on almost an undeniable level the originals are the best. Im not that guy that thinks the new pokemon look like digimon which is irrelevent, but i just think it is getting out of hand with space goat gods And pokemon that can control everything FYI space time and other controlling pokemon are friggin wierd. MEWTWO is and will always be the strongest pokemon ever created in my book.

What i was trying to say is all of the pokemon games have been good except dpp which made a gigantic leap from pokemon and legendary pokemon to... GOD pokemon i mean honestly who wants that. I mean even Ruby saphire and emerald kept it alive perfectly, with strong pokemon and a new backround but nothing that made previous legendaries look like garbage (with the exception of deoxys one of the dummest pokemon ever). I will probably get black and white but if pokemon become anymore powerfull im done with it

p.s. you would think after hundreds of years on whatever the hell planet pokemon takes place that they would stop finding new landmasses and having different pokemon pop outta NOWHERE!

I played the original Silver, and Crystal versions..and I currently am playing through Heart Gold. In it I've collected all 8 Johto badges, but am working my way towards the Elite 4... so far I don't think it has been disappointing at all. It's about everything you would expect from a remake.. the updated graphics, and battle menus were a much welcome addition.

the only thing I wish they would've done was add a little more depth to some of the zones, like for instance Mahogany town could have been updated and expanded on a little more... I mean you could walk right through and if you blink you wouldn't even notice it was a Town... it's pretty much just a Gym, Poke Center with a building in the center. It has potential to be much more diverse when you look on your map and see the description it says something along the lines of a "Former Ninja Hideout".. they could have done so much with that.

but eh Johto I never really dug how Johto fit together as a region, the flow of the region and how you progress through it seems a bit awkward... still love the original games, and this remake of it. Just thought the Johto continent in general had potential for more.
