5th Gen New Types?

Ninjask, IMO, isn't the most reliable Pokemon since it falls hard to roar/whirlwind and such, and priority attacks pretty much take care of it. Heracross is good if you're playing like, a Scarf version or utilizing Guts and putting Toxic Orb + Swords Dance + Facade or something. D:

And poison-types...it really depends, as each poison type has a specific purpose to it and it's really weird. Drapion seems to be one of the strongest Poison-types that come to mind, and a swords dance + stab version can be pretty deadly for the most part, and the chance of poisoning your opponent can turn out to be pretty bad too. So when you think about it, poison types really aren't all that weak.

I was just listing some Bug Pokemon that don't fall under the same category as Butterfree and Dustox and such. The ones that could be used in competitive play without everyone laughing.

There aren't many good Poison-types. Gengar doesn't even utilise its Poison typing. Tentacruel does only to absorb Toxic Spikes. There aren't a lot of good Poisons. And that's not even the point. I was saying that the type itself, and not the Pokemon, is weak. It's only supereffective against Grass. Why? Poison is supposed to be a deadly type, and yet it's not.
I want Crystal type!
Bugs don't all die in water some survive, poison eventually doesn't effect bugs as they become immune to them over time...just look at what's happening with Pesticides...
Metal should be weak against Water but apparently they are all rust proof :P
They become immune to one type of poison, and then we change it up and they're not immune anymore. And most common bugs will die if you drown them. Flies, mosquitos, pretty much every beetle crawling around in your house, spiders, ants, etc.

I agree with the Water/Steel thing, but Water's already a powerful type.

i just think being SE against poison and fighting while being weak to ghost, dark and bug is not so great!

Fighting is a very popular offensive type. Machamp, Heracross, Lucario, Infernape, Gallade, Blaziken. You see a lot of these guys don't you?

That's actually "balanced." Need I remind you of Gen I where the psychic type had no rival?

We've gone two generations without having any types added. I'd rather there not be a new type anyway, just in case of balance issues (looking at you, Gen I's Psychic and Mewtwo).
Plus I hate the fact that everytime a new generation is announced, people speculate that theres going to be a light type. It gets so annoying when you see it everywhere (and I mean everywhere) on messageboards and sites.

crystal type makes no sense. people would beg suicune to be part crystal type.....what would it be weak and strong agaisnt anyways?
Crystal would absorb water so that's one immunity...you know how Crystals absorb water and they grow?
They will be weak against crystal like a diamond is...so there one weakness and 1 immunity...yeah not the best type I thought up, but I can Imagine the cool Crystal Pokemon :P

that would seem more like a rock or steel type pokemon with water absorb ability, based on the characteristics of a crystal. it just doesnt stand out enough to be a completely new type.

The problem with Sound type is that Soundproof also blocks some other typed noise moves: bug buzz, Grasswhistle, Metal Sound and Time Roar.

but then theres water absorb, volt absorb, etc.

They only reason they even made steel and dark type was to balance psychic, so there is no need for a 'light' type.

Plus, it's a dumb idea.
ot: lol at your sig

back on topic, it would be cool for a light type to happen, but it prob wont happen. either way, i know when i buy the game, i WILL be happy :t325:

I doubt it, and i don't want new types. If they have introduced them in gen 2 or 3,fine. But that's the fifth generation. The first 493 pokemon in the pokedex wouldn't have the new type, and it's all complicating.

I believe that the Light type is a geat idea and I have been waiting for it FOR EVER!!!

everythings changing this year!!! TM last forever. Going back to the colour names!
Putting ya Mons on ya PC! why not shake it up and add a type or 2! Light and sumin like, i dunno, Magma?
Actually,Magma would make sense, cos magma storm is a fire movem but magma isnt fire is it>?
Magma is a liquid and fire is a gas.
WOOP!WE NEED THE MAGMA TYPE!!!
SCREW LIGHT

Crystal would be a very..stupid type. Since Crystal is just a form of rock, I think rock type covers crystal.

I would like a Light type. I doubt they will add any more types to the games though. Light type is covered by both Fire and Electric types, so I guess it too would be rather pointless.

and being SE against one common type makes it good?

and in gen 1 psychic was overpowered because it had virtually no weakness. it has 3 now yet its SE against 2 (one of which is rarely seen)

^well a powerful psychic attack from an Alakazam or Gardevoir can KO a Pokemon regardless, so I still think psychic is powerful
------------------------------
and you know that new swan, well its a TRUMPETER SWAN, (sound type anyone?)

well they will probably never release new types, and i like it that way. But if i had to choose a new type I think cyber would be ubercool (porygon the best poke ever <3)

There have been a lot of thoughts of the new type being "light" (if there is a new type) as there is already a dark type.

Awesome.

I would find if they added a Light Type to one of the new pokemon games (I.E Black, and White). It would be a perfect time to make awhole new type of pokemon, giving alot more NEW pokemon plus, alot of types like Chris, said himself. Dragon types are very overpowerd enless mixed with some other type, there ONLY weakness is Ice. If you put a Light type into the deal, it would be easy to balance it out frankly.

Anyway, this is not a place for me to rant my Ideas.

I believe they will add a new Type of pokemon, and hope they do.

Edit:
The japanese release date is about a month away. Something that big (New Types) we would have already heard about.

Come on, if I made a new type in A game, that has probably over a Million fans, I would love to hide something this big, and release the game on a bang. Why would you want to release all of the big stuff, when you could suprise the public with it? ;3

Well, technically Dragon-Types are weak to other Dragon-Types, although I do see the flaw in countering a Dragon with a Dragon, as it works visa versa.

I'm not entirely sure what to think about a Light-Type, I can see a few Pokemon becominga Light Pokemon (Ampharos - Elec/Light, Chimecho - Light), but it could just ruin the whole balance of the game.

I think it would be strong against Dark-Type offensively, but weak against it defensively, much like Dragon is to itself. It could also work against Ghost-Types, but it would be weak against Grass-Types (Photosynthesis), and Steel-Types (Mirrors reflect light... Ok, so mirrors are made of glass, technicality...).

Anyway, I wouldn't mind either way, but as long as the game is still balanced. Besides, Nintendo said they had a 'BIG' surprise in store for Black/White, so you never know...

(Edit-Although that might be the seasons thing, which sounds great!)

Wow, this thread's pulled up again?

No, sorry, we don't need a Light type, and we won't have one.
