OOC: Officially THE longest post I have ever made.
Koori put the mission slip in her treasure bag, scanning Tint's face. She might not particularly care for other Pokemon, even the ones she risked her life to save, but even she could tell when someone was troubled by something. Maybe it had to do with the way she had been raised, sitting alone in the nest while her mother looked for food, watching the other Piplup happily play. She remembered the days when it became too hot to move and the Prinplups doused their children with Water pulses and Bubble beams, as she sat on the ice, the sun burning her. Her mother may have been a kind hearted Pokemon, but she didn't have the ability to appear in two places at once and Koori nearly fainted from the heat. The glacial island had no trees nor shade. Then there were the days when it was freezing, snowstorms ravaging the colony. In those times, Koori would seek shelter in a crevice, still watching the others as they huddled together for warmth. Even in the worst weather, they were still happy. When her father was had still been alive, it had been happier for her. She played with the others, her mother gushed over her, and her father constantly remarked about what a healthy chick she was. That time was long gone though, and nothing would bring it back. She wasn't even sure her mother was alive.
Koori broke out of her thoughts, actually smacking herself for spacing out. There was no point to thinking about the past. The future was the only thing she was concerned about.
"Hurry up! Let's Go!"
She snapped at Tint, walking towards the doorway. She was getting annoyed at herself. She usually didn't sulk or regret. There was no merit in those sort of things. It was something she had promised she would stop doing when she arrived at Helmtown. Koori growled low, feeling her bad temperament from earlier come back. There were times when she felt as if the entire world was trying to say her existence was insignificant, that she was nothing but a speck of dust in the road of life. This was one of those times, and she felt like destroying a part of the forest outside just for the heck of it. 'Jose wouldn't be pleased.' The rationale side of her said. Koori blocked it out, Jose couldn't stop her. 'Tint might. He hasn't shown you his last move. It might be powerful.' Ah, that was her curiosity talking. Remembering Tint, she checked he was following her, seeing that his face was still expressionless. Typical psychics, always calculating, to the very last word. He was probably beginning to think she was a bit nutty, seeing as she had smacked herself earlier. Koori mentally noted to remember that he was around and stop doing random actions that she did when she worked solo. She realised she was already making a habit of checking for Tint and clicked her beak. Another thing to try and get rid of, although she knew as long as he was around, she'd probably keep on doing it.
They were rounding a bend in the road, nearing the beach, and mountain base when a Lotad suddenly appeared out of nowhere. It barrelled into her head first then clonked back down onto the road as Koori stood her ground. The Lotad then stood up, looking a bit distressed but immediately seemed to brighten as he saw the rescue badges they had on.
"You're from the rescue guild! Thank Arceus! There's an emergency!"
The Lotad stopped a second to regain his breath.
"The cave cliff by the beach just collapsed, and the bartender up the road says one of his regular customers, a buisel, often goes there when the tide goes out. He might be trapped under there! You have to help!"
Koori sprung into action, grabbing Tint by a tiny wing before he could act and her brain could catch up to her body. The cave in question was one she knew quite well, having been there herself. Prinplups and Empoleon could hold their breath for quite a while and she went there whenever she felt like a nice cold swim. The water in that area always seemed slightly cooler. She hadn't gone out for a while because she had been on a long B rank mission chasing an outlaw, but she had noticed signs of erosion before she left. As she came upon the scene, most of the beach goers were crowding around the cliff, which was in rubbles. As the tide was coming in, water was beginning to flood into the remainder of what use to be a cave, and if anyone was in there, it was going to be too late if nobody took immediate action. She put Tint down, hurrying towards the water and diving in. Unfortunately, he wouldn't be of much use until she fished someone out for him to heal. Koori didn't think Natu had the ability to breath underwater or swim.
Underneath the surface of the water, Luvdisc and the other Pokemon living there scrambled in all directions, rushing to get away from the cave mouth. She twisted and turned to avoid them, feeling pure, unadulterated adrenaline. She was in her element, and the water was her domain. It was calmer than the waters she swam in during her younger years back on the island, and even the currents created from the collapse didn't match the raging waves of the icy ocean. Slowing down once the cave mouth, or what was left of it, came into sight, she looked around for the safest and most direct way to enter. Time was of the essence and she had about an hour before she had to come up for air, give or take a few minutes. Spotting a weak point in the rock wall, she used metal claw on it, causing the whole structure to come tumbling down, revealing a tunnel. Carefully swimming through it, she rose to the roof to take a deep breath of air, increasing the time in which she could remain underwater. She had measured her longest time at 2 hours and 9 minutes and she hoped that the buizel was close to the exit and not trapped under any rumble.
The tunnel was devoid of Pokemon and signs of life as she sped through it, aside from the occasionally seaweed. She tried to remember where the tunnel finally broadened out into a cavern, and guessed turns. She had nearly smacked straight into the roof when it had suddenly dipped low, forcing her to dive roll out of the way. Navigating to the back of the cave usually wasn't hard, but now it was littered with giant boulders, blocking the way. When she finally reached the central cave cavern, the floor was covered in both small and big rocks. Luckily, the water hadn't managed to reach it yet, and she scrambled onto the dry land rather ungracefully. There was no sign of a Buizel anywhere and she searched around the rocks. It was only by chance that she spotted a blue fin behind a huge boulder, squishing the Pokemon against the wall. Most likely, the shock waves from the falling cave had rolled his unconscious body towards the wall, saving him from any further injuries. He already sported a large bruise on his back, as well as a still bleeding wound to the head.
Koori knocked the rock away, grabbing onto the buizel with a flipper. She hurried back to the water, diving in a speeding through the tunnels. The cave was still rumbling and she feared more boulders would block the entrance, stopping them from exiting. Fortunately, her fears were unanswered, and she shot through the opening and onto the beach like a blue coloured torpedo. Several bystanders started cheering but she ignored them in favour of checking that the Buizel still had a pulse. She checked his breathing and then waved Tint over. Using a technique that her mother had shown her before for getting any water out of the lungs, she rolled him onto his side, then slapped his back hard with a flipper. He immediately started choking up water.
"Can you heal him?"
She asked Tint, still checking the Buizel over and noting that he might have a few broken bones and perhaps a torn fin. The other Pokemon were still chattering away, saying things about how amazing the guild was. Koori tuned them out.
OOC: Did I maybe step over a few lines there? and I seem to enjoy writing rather rant-like posts.
