  • "I am Ikiji Murasashi, heir to the great Murasashi legacy," a flicker of sadness crossed his face, "though I doubt you've heard of it."

Strange. He had joined with only one purpose; finding Saiya. That was the sole reason he came here; he had felt no loyalty to these people, no sympathy for their cause.

But now, that was changing. He felt as though their cause had become his own. He knew that he wouldn't be able to leave until he saw this through, and he knew that Matsuko was realizing the same thing. Somewhere along the line, he had become a member of the Uprising, in spirit if not necessarily in actuality. He had done what he thought undoable for him.

He had found allies. And, possibly, even a home.

He shook himself mentally. Calm down. This is no reason to get emotional.

PXS. They're nothing but murderers and monsters. I've faced my share of villains, but these guys definitely take the cake when it comes to sheer determination. They...even rimind me of...

Old, haunting faces flashed through his mind...he heard the harsh shouts....saw the flash of gunfire....felt the heat of the fire.....

He shook himself again. Now is not the time for flashbacks. We should go. But, first...

He looked at the pokeballs that he was holding. "Something occured to me; what will we do with these? With the PXS around, it wouldn't be safe to release them, and the Uprising can't spare the manpower for an escort to a safer region."

He looked back towards the camp. "And something tells me that, after being bound to murderers like that, they won't be very welcoming of being assigned to Uprising members.

    "So, what should we do?"

Kensai thought for a minute. "Well, for now, atleast till everything calms down for a moment we can keep them at the pokemon center, who knows, they may even want to join us" Kensai liked that idea. If anything they could help us train even if they leave the real fighting to us.

Kensai wasn't sure but he felt like he could trust the man before him. The two of them made a pretty good team, in the long run that would be very useful, maybe even life saving.

  • "That will work, for now anyway."

He shivered suddenly; it must be getting late. The temperature was dropping.

"As tempting as the idea of becoming a human popsicle is, we should return before it gets any colder."

    The group set off again.
    ------------------
Matsuko walked with the group, trying to match their pace. The air was getting much colder, and she sneezed.

She looked at the other trainer, the "Kensai."

So, there are skilled trainers amongst the Uprising. He remonds me quite a bit of Kij...but, then again, Kij is Kij, and no one could ever be exactly like him.

Nevertheless, it's good to know that there are strong trainers amongst the Uprising. But...

That was just a skirmish. We've slowed them down for a few days, but it's entirely possible that they'll get more men, more armor, more weapons...everything we've done can be replaced, given time.

After seeing Kensai in action, I know that the Uprising is much stronger than we originally thought, but I can't help but wonde r if it'll be sufficient...

She sneezed again. Ikiji turned and looked back at her.

"If you catch pneumonia, we leave you behind, understand?"

<Oh, shut up. You've lost all right to talk to me for the rest of the day.> She snorted. <Idiot.>

The fight isn't over. Not by a long shot.

But, at least we'vew bought the Uprising a few more days of preparation.

A few more days of peace.

(ooc: im gonna take one of the pokemon for myself but i cant decide between a meditite and the fire monkey)

They finally arrived back at the base. Kensai was cold and tired. "Well im going to get some rest and im sure these two need some too, later on we should have a training session and work on this places defenses" He began making his way to his room, still in the uniform he had stolen.

    (i still wanna rp lol)

"Well im going to get some rest and im sure these two need some too, later on we should have a training session and work on this places defenses"

"Very well." His stomach growled loudly; he suddenly realized he hadn't eaten anything since he'd arrived here in the first place. The other trainer left.

<You sound hungry, Kij. Is starving yourself some new training method?>

"Oh, put a cork in it."

He set off in search of the kitchen, but somehow ended up in the gym.

    "Damn..."

He tried again, and managed to find the kitchen. He opened the fridge, and put together a sandwich. He devoured it in seconds, then returned to the front room. He'd forgotten about his little surprise for Matsuko.

    "Matsu?"

She was lying on the reception desk. <Yeah?>

"I've got something to show you."

She sat up and looked over. Ikiji took one of the pokeballs he was carrying. He threw it, and released the pokemon inside.

It was the Raichu that had attack Matsuko, and lost humiliatingly. He looked around for a moment, then spotted Matsuko. He tensed.
    -----------------------------------
That Raichu? You...saved him, Kij? After he attacked me?

The Raichu looked at her, and tensed.

<You?!> He sparked. She waved her paw dismissively.

<Did you forget how that turned out last time? Besides that, did you even bother to look around?>

The Raichu stopped, puzzled. He looked around, then spotted his pokeball in Ikiji's hands. He grew angry. <So, I've been given a new master, then?>

<Guess again.> Matsuko replied. Ikiji dropped the pokeball on the ground. He lifted up his heavy military boot.

He brought his foot down, and smashed the pokeball.

The Raichu stared at him in awe. <Wh-What are you...?>

Matsuko smiled at him. <Do I have to spell it out? This is the resistance hideout. You're free now.>

    His eyes widened. <I'm...free?>

    <Yes.>

    <But...I attacked you...I would've KILLED you...>

<One, I've beaten a Raichu who had five times your skill, so, no, you wouldn't've. Two, I refuse to allow the PXS to keep a member of my species, or my evolved or pre-evolved forms, if there's anything I can do about it. And three, You were little better than a slave, so I hold no grudge against you for your actions.>

The Raichu took a few steps back, then fell on his behind. <I...I don't...tha...thank you...> He stood up. <But, what do I do now?>

<It's too dangerous to leave, so for now, you'll have to hide here, with the other freed pokemon. But you're free to use any of the facilities availia->

    <I want to help!>

    <Excuse me?>

<I...want to help the rebels- sorry, the Uprising.> He looked at Ikiji. <Can I...join your trainer?>

Matsuko shook her head. <Sorry, but Ikiji doesn't use other pokemon. There are plenty of other trainers around here, though; you could go see if any of them will take you.>

<Okay, I will! And thank you again! Thank you, thank you!>

He stood up and rushed off in search of a trainer. Matsuko smiled. <So, your surprise was a freed Raichu.>

"You were expecting maybe chocolates or something?"

<No. This is good. It killed me inside knowing there were others of my kind fighting for the PXS, but now there's one less on their side and one more on ours. Thanks, Kij.>

Ikiji looked at her in shock. "Matsu, did you just thank me?"

<I have no idea what you're talking about.>

"No, you thanked me. I heard it."

    <You're imaging things.>

"No, you really did say it, didn't you?"

<Kij, if you keep rambling about these daydreams of yours, I'm going to shock you.>

"Yeah, whatever. I'll drop it." He was smiling, though.

    Thank you, Kij.

Kensai got back to his room then remember the pokeballs he had grabbed and came back out. Grabbing the six balls he had been able to take he threw them down releasing six pokemon. A meditite, a mankey, a sandshrew, an aipom, a ekans, and an growlith. They all looked around confused as Kensai explained everything to them. He told them that for now it would be safest for them to stay at the center until the weather calms down. He offered them sanctuary. They all seemed excited except the meditite who's eyes glowed and it dissappeared. "Huh well that was weird... anyways you guys are more then welcome to take a look around, meet the other trainers and pokemon, and we will have food for you after a while." Kensai sighed as he sat down in the lobby. He was tired but he couldnt sleep now, so he sat there trying to figure out what to do next.

  • "Well, any idea on what to do now?"

Matsuko thought about it. <Logically speaking, we should prepare our defenses, and train. I really don't feel like that right now, though. I'm tired.>

"Sitting around twiddling my thumbs isn't my idea of fun. Isn't there anything we can do to kill some time?"

<I kind of want to try my skills against that other trainer, but I'm really too tired for that right now. I guess I'll just take a nap. Wake me in a few, okay?>

She let her eyes fall shut. Her mind drifted into sleep...
    -----------------------------------------
Ikiji freed the other two pokemon he'd rescued. A treeko and a mudkip. He explained, and they left to explore their new environment.

He yawned loudly. He was tired, too, but after all the excitement, he didn't feel like sleeping. He looked out the windows, and saw the snow falling outside.

First things first. He went to his room, but realized that, technically speaking, he wasn't a member of the Uprising, and so didn't have a room of his own. Shrugging, he found a bathroom, and removed the uniform. He left it on the floor, walked out into the lobby, and sat on a bench, staring at the snow.

He hated wasting time, and he now found himself forced to do it.

I guess I could go for some training, but since Matsu's asleep...

He decided to test out the gym below.

Pokemon weren't the only ones who could train.

(lol, we're running out of things to do)

While Kensai was sitting there he saw a mudkip and a treeko walk by. He offered them some food and they happily ate then one on each side layed against him and fell asleep. Oh joy now i really cant move... Hmm come to think of it where did that meditite go? did it go back to the base we destroyed? if so its going to be dissappointed...poor thing... He sighed and leaned back against the chair. He thought about it for a moment and remembered that the other trainer wasn't a real member and didnt have a room. He slowly got up careful not to wake up the two sleeping pokemon. He wondered around until he found who he was looking for. "Yawn, hey there you are, listen i know your tired after todays battle, you can use my bed to get some sleep, i have a cot in my room i can use for now..." He said as he sat down next to him.

(lol yeah well i got one more thing i can do then im out of ideas haha)

  • "A room? That would be useful, but I'd like to do some training in the gym first."

He stood slowly, and headed for the gym. He stopped and looked back. "You may come if you like, but your pokemon may not fight. Perhaps when Matsu awakens."

Across the room, Matsuko started to snore.

  • Graham sat on board the turck reading the file in his hands. What on earth were the PXS thinking the Uprising were nothing more than a bunch of kids, they had a few trainers who could be a threat but that wasn't a reason to send these ten bounty hunters and PXS members armed with Pokemon after them. The truck pulled to a stop and the engine was cut behind it Graham heard the other truck stop. He turned to the back of the truck and watched as the back of the truck was opened letting the snow storm raging out side in. One by one the four other men in the back of the truck got out, Graham got out last.

"Ah you must be Mr. Stevenson, I have been warned about you. Considering the circumstances around your being here I think it would be wise for you to hand your Pokemon over to me until you need them. Do you agree?" A short man said who Graham could only presume was some kind of officer. The officer was holding a breif case, the kind filled with foam to stop whatever it is holding moving about, There was space for six Pokeballs in the breif case.

"That was a request not a question." The man said again, Graham handed over his Pokeballs reluctantly and watched as the man put them in the case and locked it.

"That wasn't so difficult was it?" The man said handing a key to Graham, he put the other key in his pocket and gave the breif case to a PXS officer who took it away.

"That will be all" The man said as he turned to leave. Graham walked round the side of the van to see the full PXS camp.

"What the ****!" The camp was massive, this was far more than the force required to capture a few kids, this was an invasion force. There were helicopters and guns and a tunk. An actual TANK how would the PXS get its hand on that.

Later that day as Graham sat in his tent an anouncement went out. "LISTEN UP! THE ATTACK BEGINS TOMORROW AT MIDNIGHT! WE WILL HAVE A BRIEFING FOR THE ASSAULT TOMORROW AT 0700 SHARP! MAKE YOUR FINAL PREPARATIONS! THAT IS ALL!"

What have I goten my self into, Graham hid his head under his pillow.

The girl stared at him for a while, Josh felt like he was being mocked or something. He bowed his head and continued to stare at the table before the girl actually talked to him.

"Sar," she said. Josh didn't look up. He was too embarrassed for one, because his face clearly said "oh look at me I'm so sad." Her Hoothoot hooted softly, but he didn't look up for that either. Josh felt her eyes staring into his head and her elbow rest onto the table.

"Lovely weather, isn't it?" Sar said sarcastically. The small talk sounded unfamiliar on her tongue, but Josh couldn't really care. He merely grunted in reply and turned his head. Bon growled and bashed her head into his, causing him to yelp loudly.

"Bon! What was that for?!" He yelled, all eyes of the PokéCentre were on him now. He smiled nervously and turned to the girl. She was staring at him as if he had some kind of large mole on his face, and last time Josh checked, he hadn't grown one of those yet.

"I-I'm sorry, err, Sar. I just feel like..." Josh shook his head vigoursly and slapped himself on the face. "What am I saying? Urr, Sar, I'm sorry for being such an emo loser. I'm really upset with my sister at the moment. She's so different, so... cold. And I don't know why."

It wasn't his fault she was so cold, was it?

  • The cold snow was a bit much for Lucas to handle. It was much warmer on the sandy beaches of Crisp Cove where his gym was located back home and he certainly wasn't dressed for snow. He clasped his light jacket tightly and wished he was as lucky as Starmie who could at least keep comfortable in a Pokeball.

To make matters worse the wind was picking up, his long silver ponytail was flying upward in the wind, and his forest green messenger bag, which was covered white with snow flew quite a ways behind him due to the long strap and growing intensity of the wintery winds.

Ugh another hill! Lucas thought to himself as he noticed the upward slope he had begun walking in.

Lucas hadn't really been looking as he trudged along in the snow looking downward against the fierce winds. His body ached and he just wanted to find a place to rest.

As he approach the top of the hill he noticed below the hill sharply ended. "This isn't natural." He whispered to himself. As he looked down at the now steep slope below him he could make out a road. As he looked along the path he noticed vehicles in the distance.

Wonderful! Maybe these guys can tell me where place to spend the night is. Finally a warm bed! The gym leader thought to himself happily as he slid himself down the much steeper slope
    .
The young water Pokémon master trudged along the road heading to the vehicles and camp site of what he hadn't realized ahead was what the Uprising was fighting against, especially since he didn't even know what the PXS or Uprising was. All he knew was that Pokemon weren't allowed in this region, he had no idea what he was walking into.

(btw warden we already trashed the outpost so...yeah, the ones that are there are prolly cleaning up bodies or dealing with the damage)

After a few hours of training Kensai was exhausted and needed to get some sleep. He made his way back to his room, but what he found when he got there surprised him. When he opened the door, he found the meditite that had dissappeared was floating in his room meditating. "what the...Meditite this is my room, you should go meet the rest of the trainers and hang out with the other freed pokemon." The meditite simply replied, "Medi-tite!" and continued floating there. Kensai really wished he could understand what it was saying, but he was too tired to really take much head. "Fine stay there what ever, im getting some sleep, good night guys." He said to his Scyther and Vibrava. With that he climbed into his bed with the uniform he had stolen still on and passed out. While he slept he dreamed about his father and what it would be like when he finally got him back.

  • Josh just grunted to her sad attempt at small talk. He was definitely not in the mood to be talking to a strange girl - that is, before his Houndoom headbutted him. Her lips twitched in amusement when he looked up at her, yelping at his Pokemon. So, the Houndoom's name is Bon, she thought. He started stuttering an apology, and explained that he was worried about his sister's attitude. She grinned with amusement.

"Emo loser, huh?" Her smile softened a bit. "Your sister's the one who told you to leave me alone yesterday, isn't she?" She sighed. Family wasn't really a subject she liked to go into very much. So, she distracted herself, leaning over and watching Bon instead.

"Hey, you tell that kid over there to stop beating himself up about it, alright? From what I see, he's a good guy," she said gently to the comparitively small Fire Pokemon. She liked talking to Pokemon better than people at any rate. This was the most she'd talked for a while, but the guy looked so pitiable. Tock jumped over, flapping her undersized wings until she landed in front of Bon as a reminder that she was still alive. She stayed there, hooting again.

"That's Tock, and this is Burr," she introduced them both.

    *

The Raichu wandered around, looking for a trainer. He entered the Pokecenter and saw two people talking, surrounded by Pokemon. Perhaps one of them would take him in. Then he heard the Hoothoot talk to the Houndoom.
    <Hey, you got paint?>

"Yep. That's Ashi." Josh sighed. At least Ashi was nicer then. Rather than now. Sar looked a little nervous, but smiled and looked over at Bon.

"Hey, you tell that kid over there to stop beating himself up about it, alright? From what I see, he's a good guy," she said softly to Josh's Houndoom. Sar's Hoothoot jumped over, flapping her small wings to get enough air until she landed in front of Bon as a reminder that she was still alive. She hooted merrily a few times. Josh smiled.

"That's Tock, and this is Burr," Sar gestured to their respected selves. Josh pulled the balls off his bracelette, releasing his own.

"Alex, the Pidgeot and Stone, the Lairon and Knight, the Gallade... oh?" Josh felt in his pocket, it was the Leafeon, from before that the guardian had thrown away. What to do with it? Keep it?

"And, uh, this too I spose," Josh nervously tossed open the ball, awaiting some kind of attack. The Leafeon stood there, a little confused. It stretched its legs out and stared wide eyed at Josh.

"Uh, hi," Josh said to the Leafeon. It merely purred in return. "Uh... Do you mind if you stick it out with me until we find your owner?" The Leafeon just shrugged in reply.

    "Do you have a nickname?"

    "Lee! Lee!"

"Okay, well, Lee then. This is Lee the Leafeon."

    * * *

<Hey, you got paint?> Tock hooted at Bon. Bon blinked in reply.

<Paint? What do you need paint for?>

  • Ikiji yawned. Kensai had left about an hour ago, and he was starting to feel even sleepier than before.

He started to leave before he realized that he hadn't allowed Kensai to show him his room.

    "Damn..."

He returned to the lobby, where Matsuko was snoring loudly. He was exhausted, and he figured it wouldn't hurt to 'borrow' another member's room.

He very carefully picked up the sleeping Matsuko and searched for an empty room. After a few minutes, he found one that looked unoccupied. He walked inside and gently laid Matsuko down on one bunk (for he knew what she'd do if she awoke to find herself being carried by him), and went over to the other on, where he laid down himself.

Big day tomorrow; we've got to get everything ready for the invasion. But for now...

    And he slept.

He saw uniformed figures marching along a desolate road. With a start, he realized it was the main road of Frosty Gorge. He saw the ruins of the very Center the Uprising was based in.

The soldiers had several people restrained, and were marching them along the ruined concrete path. He recognized several of them; the leader, Isabel; the boy Isabel had been with; and the trainer, Kensai. Yet, something was wrong about them. He looked down and realized that he was restrained, as well. A sharp object poked his back; he turned to see a soldier pointing a gun at him. The soldier spoke, but Ikiji heard no words. He moved along with the others.

He felt a strange...emptiness. He searched for its source, and after a moment, it hit him.

Matsuko wasn't with him. Panicked, he looked around, and saw that none of the other member's pokemon were with them.

Isabel was looking at the ground, her eyes closed, but it was Kensai's face that scared him most. Ikiji followed his gaze...

And he saw it. A pile of bodies. But not human bodies.

    Pokemon bodies.

He recognized the bloodied corpse of Kensai's Scyther, and Vibrava, of the Raichu they'd freed, of the Vulpix he'd first met outside the Center when hew first arrived. And his gaze traveled to the top of the pile.

There lay Matsuko, eyes closed, covered in blood. She looked so peaceful in death.

Ikiji awoke in a cold sweat. He managed to drag himself out of the bed, and fell to the floor with a thud. He climbed wearily to his feet. He felt ill.

He looked over and saw Matsuko, still asleep. She looked almost the same as in the nightmare, and he felt a new wave of nausea. He struggled to find his way to the bathroom. When he got there, he promptly lost the sandwich he'd eaten earlier.

Calm down, calm down...it was just a dream. Nothing to worry about. Nerves, nothing more.

He still felt ill, the sick images of the dream running unwanted through his mind.

He dragged himself to the lobby, and sat dizzily on a bench. He'd never had a horrifying nightmare like that before. He prayed that it was only a dream. But...

    If it wasn't, then...

One choice. I have to take Matsuko and run. Get away from here. We cannot die now; we have too much to do.

He thought of how she'd react to that.

No. We are in far too deep now for that. We have no choice but to remain. But, I can't allow something like that to happen. I need to tip the scales in our favor.

He knew what he had to do. And he hated it.

"This is going to be a long day..."
    ------------------------------
Matsuko yawned and awoke. She sat up and stretched.

Ahhh...I feel completely refreshed. I haven't slept like that in a long time.

She looked around, and realized where she was.

Did someone move me? Ah, no matter.

She climbed off the bunk and leapt onto the ground. She left the room.

Where'd Kij wander off to, I wonder? Ah, who cares...come to think of it, I never had a chance to battle in that gym. I wonder if there are any trainers down there.

A quick trip told her no. But, she wasn't ready to give up just yet. I'm feeling better than ever, and a battle would be a perfect way to burn this new energy.

She set off in search of a trainer or pokemon to battle.

Kensai awoke feeling pretty good. The meditite was still meditating in his room. Kensai just nodded too it and went into the lobby to see what was going on.
