Taking A Break On This Challenge

I'm ready to take on Isshu/Unova, but I will be on hiatus for the Fire Mono. I want to play this game like normal, then do my other challenges that may involve Black/White.

So this battle, as expected was easy, Chuck is the 5th Gym Leader of the Johto Region and uses Fighting type Pokemon which are weak to flying type.. lucky for me, so after crossing the sea and Golbat evolving to Crobat and learning Wing Attack just in time! It's time to battle Chuck.
The first Pokémon is Primape Level 28, I knew this woudn't take long considering my Crobat was Level 33 with Wing Attack, so with one bite and a Wing Attack, Primape was down dealing no damage to me!
Chuck's second, and final Pokémon is Poliwrath Level 30, this thing can be quite tough if you haven't got the right types and fast too, but with 1 Wing Attack dealing more than half the damage, it would only take one more Wing Attack and because his Dynamic Punch missed, I was able to throw in another Wing Attack and victory was mine with NO DAMAGE DELT!

I defeated Chuck and got the Storm badge & TM01! Next, it's time to face Jasmine.. although it may be tough with Flying hardly damaging steel.

Update for Ultimate Monotype Challenge (Normal).

Update #2 on Platinum.

I started in Eterna City.

Spoiler:

- I got Cut from Cynthia and taught it to Twiggy.
- After beating up all the trainers around the city, I challenged the gym.

Man, this was tough, I lost several times, always because of Beav losing to Roserade before he was able to fire a Hyper Fang at her, and Lola wasn't able to take up the slack. Finally, after getting Beav closer to L25, she was able to grow to L25 during the battle, and was able to outspeed a Magical Leaf to put a hurt on Roserade with Hyper Fang. After the Sitrus Berry and a Magical Leaf, Lola was able to finish Roserade off with Frustration.

- After getting the badge, I could Cut now, so I explored the Old Chateau in Eterna Forest.
- Then I went to the Glactic Eterna Building to save the Bike Shop owner's Pokemon.
- Took care of Jupiter without any trouble and picked up a Bike and an Upgrade.
- Got the egg from Cynthia, and went up and down Cycling Road a few times until it hatched.
- Named the Togepi Ace and gave him the Exp. Share I just got.
- At Mt. Coronet's entrance, Lucas gave me the VS Seeker and Dowsing Machine.
- Went to Hearthome City, and after exploring Acuity Square (Amulet Coin FTW!), I went to the Contest Hall.
- After taking to Mom and her friend, I decided to take a Normal Cool Contest with Lola (Jump Kick, Quick Attack).
- I won!

- After Lola preened for the crowd, I challenged the gym full of Ghost-types.

This was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Beav took out Duskull with 3 Rollout turns, and he missed twice with Will-O-Wisp (lucky!). Mismagus took arounf half of Beav's HP with Magical Leaf, then was OHKOed by the fourth Rollout. n Haunter came out and didn't stand a chance against the fifth Rollout. Beav Rolled to a sweep!

- On my way to Solacean Town, Joe was waiting for me.

Rollout took out Starvaria, Roselia, and Monferno, then Hyper Fang took out Buizel, who was the only one to damage Beav with Quick Attack.

- Made a short visit to Solaceon Town, when headed up north to catch Lickitung on Rt. 215.
- Took forever, but I finally found one. Caught her and named her Linda.
- Ran back through Mt. Coronet to train in Wayward Cave.
- Did the secret one first and got Earthquake. Taught it to Linda (only one who can learn it).
- Found Mira in the main Wayward Cave and started leading her out, which is when I saved.

Next: Lead Mira out of Wayward Cave, then finish the trainers around Solaceon Town and get to Veilstone City for my final team member and the Cobble Badge.

Jasmine
Hard As Steel!

So after getting the Secretpotion for Jasmine's Amphy at the lighthouse it's finally to take her on. Jasmine is the 6th Gym Leader in the Johto Region and specialises in Steel type Pokémon.
So initially I thought this would take a few trys but luckily, with Jumpluffs tactics, I was able to win first time round!

Jasmine's first Pokémon is Magnemite Level 30, it dosen't really take much to beat, but Steel types can be a pain as many other types don't deal all too much damage unless it's super effective against it, in my case.. flying, so to start off Crobat used Confuse Ray and a couple of bites, it's health got lower than half but it had snapped out of confusion by this point and was dealing quite some damage with Thundershock, before I had time to get in one more Bite to finish it off, I'd already been K.O'ed by another Thundershock. I sent out Jumpluff and with one quick Headbutt I took Magnemite down.
Jasmine's second, and most strongest Pokémon was Steelix Level 35, this Pokémon has a really high Defence stat and can take a while to beat, it's also powerful with the move Iron Tail, so I started off with Sleep Powder, to put it to sleep and then I used Leech Seed to gain some health and also remove some of it's health, and whilst Steelix was asleep I used Cotton Spore a couple of times to lower it's speed, when Steelix woke up it had time to use Iron Tail twice as one of my Sleep Powder failed, anyway, after several headbutts, Leech Seeds and Sleep Powders, Jumpluff was able to take down Steelix single-handedly, surprisingly.
Jasmine's third and final Pokémon is another Magnemite Level 30, and again I don't know why she dosen't just send out her best Pokémon last but anyway, I kept Jumpluff out and used the same tactics, Sleep Powder, Leech Seed & Headbutt, to take it down and this time it didn't take as long, obviously because of the lower health, level ect. and after a quite strenous battle, I defeated Jasmine!

I obtained the Mineral Badge and TM 23! - Now it's time to head to Mahogany Town and sort all the
Team Rocket business!

After failing to catch Red Gyarados and clearing the Rocket's out of the Basement and alot of training, it's time to face the 7th Gym Leader of the Johto Region, Pryce who specialises in Ice type Pokémon, again, not too lucky for me.
Pryce's first Pokémon is Seel Level 27, luckily I'm atleast 8 levels higher than all of his Pokémon so I have the advantage, so Seel isn't that much of a threat compared to his other Pokémon and with 1 Wing Attack I deal 3/4th's of it's health and with one more Wing Attack Seel is defeated.
Pryce's second Pokémon is Dewgong Level 29, this can be sometimes quite difficult as it's quite powerful with Ice moves, so to start off I used Confuse Ray to try and stop it from attacking as Icy Wing and Aurora Beam are super effective against Crobat but with some health lost from Seel's Auroa Beam it's quite low. Dewgong hits with Aurora Beam leaving Crobat with 7 HP left, so I hit it with another Wing Attack and just by a few HP, Dewgong is defeated.
Pryce's third and final Pokémon is Piloswine Level 31, this thing is also powerful being part ground type, knowing moves like Earthquake and such, to start I use Confuse Ray to limit it's attacks but that didn't really work and Crobat ended up fainting on the first hit. I sent out Jumpluff and got a move in first which was Sleep Powder... which missed, so Piloswine used Aurora Beam and knocked some damage off Jumpluff but still not that much, second time round Sleep Powder works, whilst Piloswine is asleep I manage to use Leech Seed and Cotton Spore 3 times, lowering it's speed to the least it can get. used a couple of Headbutts, Pryce used Hyperpotion on Piloswine, with Piloswines speed very low, I was able to throw in a few more Headbutts and won just about!

I obtained the Glacier Badge & TM16



Onto the Radio tower with the Team Rockets and then it's off to Blackthorne to battle Dragon Master Clair!

Hey guys I'm BAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!!

I would like to direct you to my post count. It's 1000, so for this very special post, I will leave you with a few screenshots. In my absense, I completed Dragon Mono (Blue), Ice Mono (Blue), Fighting Mono (Yellow), Bug Mono (Red), and Flying Mono just now (Blue). This means that I have successfully completed a Monotype for each and every type in Red, Blue, or Yellow, making me the first Ultimate Single Monotype Champion! I plan on moving on to Gold and Silver next, and once that is done, I'll just finish RSE and DPPt type by type, until I am an UMC Champion in every type.

Update for Ultimate Monotype Challenge (Normal).

Update #3 on Platinum.

Started in Wayward Cave.

Spoiler:

- Finished leading Mira out of Wayward Cave, getting Linda and Ace to L27. Ace evolved into Togetic.
- Headed back to Solaceon Town and went through the Solaceon Ruins.
- Got Defog and taught it to Ace.
- Scaled the Lost Tower and beat all the trainers I skipped previously. Taught Linda Return.
- Got on the road to Veilstone City.
- Arrived in Veilstone and immediately grabbed the gift Porygon. Named it Matrix.
- Bought like 17 Proteins.
- Challenged the gym, where Lola evolved into Lopunny.

Lola was the savior here with 2 Jump Kicks against Lucario while taking a Drain Punch. Machoke killed the rest, two with OHKO crit Karate Chops.

- After helping Lucas get his Pokedex back, I found Fly in the warehouse and taught it to Ace. Also taught Shock Wave to Matrix.
- Made my way to Pastoria from Veilstone City. Taught Lola Dig.
- Linda learned Rollout at L33, and evolved into Lickilicky.
- At the gym, Joe showed up.

Lola went down to Buizel (Aqua Jet, arrgg) so Matrix cleaned up.

- After defeating all the gym trainers with Matrix, Crasher Wake was up.

Led with Matrix, who OHKOed Gyarados with Shock Wave. I switched it out when Floatzel came out, and Floatzel killed everyone else on my team. So Matrix was ent out again, and after I healed him with a Moomoo Milk, I finished Flotzel off with Shock Wave. Recovered against Quagsire, then 2HKOed him with Signal Beam.

- Saved after the battle.

Next up is Celestic Town and SURF!!!

So after alot of consecutive battles with Team Rocket Grunts, trainers and wild Pokémon, I cleared out Goldenrod of all the Team Rockets, and got through Ice Cave and finally reached Blackthorne City.
Clair is the 8th and final Gym Leader of the Johto Region who specialises in Dragon types, which hasn't got many weaknesses' this is quite a hard battle as most Dragon Pokémon are strong, however I.. surprisinly managed to defeat her first time round, so here's the battle!
Clair first sends out Dragonair Level 37 (each Dragonair has an elemental move of Thunderbolt, Surf & Ice Beam) Clair's first Dragonair had Surf, I started off with Jumpluff and attempted the tactical routine of which was Sleep Powder, Leech Seed, Cotton Spore, which worked and Dragonair managed to stay asleep long enough to pull off enough Headbutts to defeat it without taking any damage... well, hardly.
Clair's second Pokémon is, again Dragonair Level 37 but with Ice Beam this time, so I start again with a Sleep Powder, which unfortunately misses giving her Dragonair the chance to land an Ice Beam on Jumpluff 1 hit K.Oing it, I then sent out Pidgeot who is faster than Dragonair so got a hit in first, used Wing Attack, dealt more than half damage, Dragonair used Thunder Wave whiched failed to land, givng Pidgeot a chance to hit another Wing Attack thus knocking out her second Dragonair
Clair's third Pokémon.. again.. Dragonair Level 37 with Thunderbolt, again Pidgeot having the better speed got in a move first, using Fly then dealing alot more than half damage, Dragonair used Thunder Wave, which missed again, lucky for me, and Pidgeot used Fly again defeating her third and final Dragonair,
Clair's fourth and final Pokémon is Kindra Level 41, this Pokémon is quite difficult being part Dragon and part Water meaning that only Dragon type moves are super effective against it, any other type moves can't deal as much damage such as Ice type moves, but again Pidgeot is faster so I start off with Fly, which takes off about half of Kingdras health, then Kingdra used Surf bringing Pidgeots HP quite low, Pidgeot managed to land another Fly but didn't deal as much putting Kingdras health in the orange zone, Kingdra hit with another Surf knocking out Pidgeot, so I switched to my final Pokémon, Crobat who managed to finish Kingdra off with a Confuse Ray and a Wing Attack!
After going through the trouble of going to Dragons Den and completing the Mini-Quiz, Clair handed over the Rising Badge and TM24​

Now that I have all Eight Johto Leauge Badges, it's time to face the Elite Four!​

Elite Four

Ok, so after ALOT and I mean ALOT of grinding something from training four Pokémon to the mid 50's and late 60's all in Victory Road, I was finally able to defeat the Elite Four, after atleast 15 attempts, if not more, Ledian was the main star who was able to sweep Lances team 1 Hit K.Oing each of his Pokémon with Ice Punch & Thunder Punch, also Crobat helped alot taking down alot of Brunos, Kogas, Karens & Wills Pokémon and Jumpluff helped in some areas where others coudn't i,e with Sleep Powder and Leech Seed and what not, and Pidgeot was able to take down all of Brunos team so overall they were all a big help, the only downside was Ledian & Crobat we're alot higher levels than Pidgeot & Jumluff, but anyway
Will - Had alot of trouble with his Xatu's believe it or not it took me several trys before I actually defeated him using different stragegies each time.
Koga - Didn't find Koga as difficult as Will, although I found his Muk to be quite a handful, with Minimize, Toxic and Sludge Bomb, however it only took me one or two turns to defeat will, Crobat helped out the most in this battle.
Bruno - This battle, as expected was the easiest, Fighting being weak to Flying gave me an upper hand and Pidgeot & Crobat were able to sweep his team with Wing Attack & Fly with the exception of Jumpluff for Onix ofcourse!
Karen - She was the most difficult I have to say, it took me several attempts before I coud actually beat her, giving that when my Pokémon were lower levels I only had Crobat left and her Umbreon with the Sand Attack & Confuse Ray combo wasn't very nice, also her Houndoom was powerful with Flamethrower but once Crobat & Ledian reached the 60's they were able to take her down no problem,
Lance - He was the easiest, and the quickest surpsingly, all thanks to Ledian which I have to say is a pretty powerful little Pokémon! - I was able to 1 Hit K.O ALL of her Pokémon, Gyarados - Thunder Punch, Dragonite, Dragonite & Dragonite - Ice Punch, Charizard - Thunder Punch & Aerodactyl - Ice Punch.

I finally defeated the Elite Four and now it's time to make our journey into Kanto and collect another eight badges!
