It's funny, the previous One Piece Club was the same... :/
It really sucks too, as One Piece is teh ultimate pwnage!! >D
I'd ask to join, but I'm not really the "active club member" type.

I think it's because BLEACH and Naruto are still airing and One Piece doesn't really pick up. In fact, this is pretty much how the pacing goes:

Level 1: Alvida to Arlong (slow, and kinda dull)
Level 2: Arlong to end of Skypia (pace picks up, fights are more often)
Level 3: Skypia to- (yeah, you know, )

The injustice must be corrected! Let's make this club active! Who's with me?!

From the Strawhats, yeah I would say Nami as well. Everyone has a tragic past except maybe Luffy (Whose past they really haven't gone into yet aside from the Shanks flashbacks)

Though from all the characters I'd say Hancock. Taken as child and sold into slavery. :/
