Shinkai fans, remember 5 Centimeters per Second? Of course you do.

For anyone who doesn't know Makoto Shinkai and his beatifully awesome (that is to say, even his awesome is beautiful) work... I weep on your behalf.

Anyway, it's been recently confirmed that Makoto Shinkai's latest anime movie, Children who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below (or Hoshi o Ou Kodomo), has been confirmed for release in May 2011!

I don't really know what to say here, except for the fact that I'm psyched about this one. Knowing Shinkai, it will not dissapoint, I hope.

Yeah... I can't say much anymore. Enjoy the news. Yay...

Looks like he's going for a fantasy theme rather than sci-fi this time.

How strange I was going to post about this in the J/E Discussion thread a few hours ago.

Anyway, so far I LOVE all of Shinkai's work, he really does portray emotion brilliantly.

I'm glad he's moving away from the scifi as that aspect of The Place Promised in Our Early Days was the bit that took the score down for me. A fantasy story would suit his style perfectly.

Also from the clip it will have yet more stunning visuals and another great soundtrack.

    Excitement!

It looks and sounds gorgeous. And seems a little more fantasy-based than his other works, so that should be interesting. I can't wait. :D
