  • On ChickenSmoothie (https://www.chickensmoothie.com/), they have a place where, when people are feeling generous, or are quitting, people post a thread saying that they are giving away free pets.

Why don't we have something like that? A place where people could give out free Pokemon when they're feeling generous, or when they've decided they're done playing Pokemon.

I know it's a potential situation for hacks, so you can put up a warning, "TRADE HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK." And anyone found trading hacks, well, will be banned, or whatever happens to those who trade hacks.

Also, they have a section on that site, where people can trade pets for other things, such as Pokemon, art, etc. We could also have a section like that :) What do you think?

I think we have a Pokémon giveaway thread. Is that what you're looking for?

  • There isn't a Pokemon giveaway thread or sub-forum.

If others want to give away Pokemon, they can do so through their active shop. If they don't have a shop, they can just make a new thread. However, they may only give away their own Pokemon. This rule addresses the hacked Pokemon issue.

No one can trade Pokemon for virtual pets, money, merchandise, favors on neopets/gaia/runescape websites etc etc. Keep trading within the Pokemon retail games. No one can trade Pokemon for art because there is an art forum here where such requests are offered for free! I hope this clears up your questions.

  • I kinda agree with this. Or at least make it so the trade section isn't so strict. Some people want to giveaway some Pokemon, or get a certain trade some attention, and honestly the trade section looks MUCH more messy with a bunch of locked threads everywhere than it would with singular trade threads.

Well imo the locks aren't the forum's fault. The problem is that members don't read the rules saying what you need for a trade thread, and just post one without even trying to see if they're doing it right. I never understood that; why go through the effort of finding the right section if you don't plan to look at the rules or a few threads to see what a trade thread looks like?

Although honestly I could see a push for threads to be moved rather than locked, which would help clean up the forum like you mentioned. No one likes to see a locked thread, and although it's probably a bit more work moving them, it would make the forum look less scary.

As far as giveaways, there really aren't that many on the forums afaik. But I'm not too familiar with the Trade Corner, so correct me if I'm wrong on that one. I don't see the harm in having a thread for it though.
