It's a shame that I'm not there this month, because I would love to walk around the place- the police only let you with with a press pass around the Puerta del Sol, the city centre. The metro and the train has been closed, the strrets have been blockaded by police... fun!
Apparently they wanted to kick the protesters away from the square- hundreds, sometimes thousands of people have been there for 3 months, protesting about the budget cuts and the crazy debt crisis. But the Pope is visiting Madrid in two weeks, and since the protesters were regular citizens, they decided to keep them out of the square- by banning everybody from accessing it! And since they are moving to other emblematic zones, the police is spreading the banned zones through the city as well.
I hope it's over when I'm back, at least XD
