So it seems I've been gaining a bit of recognition for my pixel prowess these days. I've also decided to make this blog more of an art blog since I really don't have much to actually blog about here, and it'll be a good place to get my work posted here without the disappointment of dead threads.
Anyway, I'm starting off my showcases with a quick trip through my time as a pixel artist, from the humble quasi-pixels of 2003 to the contest-winning pieces of 2010. My memories of a lot of that span of time are kind of a blur, and all my older files are copies without their original date of creation, so years may not totally be accurate. 2006 was still a very active year. If not for the image limit, there'd be like twice as much under it.
And now, the pixels:
2003_______________________________________________________
Before really knowing what pixel art was, I used to make things like this in MS Paint way back before I had anything else. It isn't quite pixel art because of the texture and type, but the attention to individual pixels is still prominent.
2004/2005________________________________________________
No pixels were made during these years.
2006_______________________________________________________
I got hella busy with pixels in 2006. PC's pixel section was booming, plus I made pieces for other stuff and just for myself. This is only a about a third or so of what all I cranked out.
2007_______________________________________________________
I believe I pixelled at least something that year, but it probably was nothing too noteworthy.
2008_______________________________________________________
No pixels that year, to my knowledge.
2009_______________________________________________________
A pixel renaissance of sorts was in order for me last year, though pieces were still few in number compared to '06
2010_______________________________________________________
The year I started winning the contests, if only because there are so few entries in them. Still, I think I have improved a lot even from last year.
