This week, Ash takes on Morty for his fourth badge, and wins handily with Mina.
In the original, Ash used Goldie, but as I mentioned in the last post, as of the current generation, Mina is capable of learning Foresight, which meant that she could easily replace Goldie. I also double checked her other moves--and they are all in fact valid, as per Bulbapedia.
Kamon makes a quick cameo to replace Team Rocket--as a general rule, the evil team does not interrupt a competition in the remix. The only exceptions are if the original scene was just too funny to take out completely (but it may be rewritten to suit a different team), or it is integral to the plot that the evil team crash everything (so Team Rocket trying to burn down Celadon Gym still remains in the remix, for example). Kamon's cameo in this episode also sets up the larger role he will play next time--when Ash and Misty finally receive their Mega Rings and awaken their Heart Songs for Mega Evolution!
Also next time, the Kimono Girls are introduced, and Brock gets to try again for his green Lore Stage stripe...
