This week, Dawn's frustrations about constantly losing in contests boil over!
At first, I wanted to show the Contest, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that the episode would be more powerful if we just focused on Dawn and Satomi having a heart to heart, which culminates in the boys jamming with her as a show of support. This is why that we only see parts of the Contest (and the moments leading up to it) in a flashback.
Originally, Ash, Brock and the coordinators would encourage Dawn with an epic sing-along of "You Raise Me Up" that starts from her fiddle lament. But the more I thought about it, I thought that would come off as cheesy, plus clash with the new vision of an intimate episode. That was partly why the episode took so long.
Ash's team was slightly tweaked to account for the starter swap (since Turtwig went to Barry).
