Blog #5 - Bad Dreams

So I had the most horrible dream.

I've had a tough experience with forums. Dating all the way back to 2005 where I was making poorly written and stupid posts. Stuff like; "Goku would win with the 10000000x Kamehameha".

My biggest problem is authority however, I have more than once been banned from a forum due to my poor attitude based on a moderators correction. I've even been given a infraction here, on PokéCommunity. A foolish mistake I still, to this day, regret.

To be fair, I've had my share of biased and mean mods and members. Such as those from the CoD4 Boards and Newgrounds Community Forums. That have only made my distaste for authority all the more bitter.

Which would explain why I came out here, years ago, "Swinging".

Anyway, to the topic of the blog and what it has to do with all the above. I had a horrible dream that I got into a scuffle (much like my past experiences on numerous other forums) with a member or mod here on PokéCommunity. In the end I was so upset I left the forum. Saying, based on my donation to the website, "What a waste of money."

My greatest fear here on PokéCommunity is that something will happen that will send me spiraling back into that bad-mood-Tim attitude. And I would absolutely hate myself for it.

Do you know why, reader? It's because this forum's community has far more nice people than any other forum I have visited ever. Never have I met a group of staff more patient, a group of members more kind and a website so well cared for in my life. And that's why it was a bad dream, because I was leaving here. :)

Thanks for reading.

~Tim

The problem is that you're taking this forum (and generally, any forum really) too seriously. Arguments are bound to happen, and there's nothing wrong with that provided you're mature enough. There's also absolutely nothing wrong about going up against staff, since forum authority means jack **** in the end and everyone knows elitist are terrible people anyway, especially if they are forum staff. Them being a moderator in a forum doesn't mean they're right, and if they think that it's the absolute opposite. Luckily PC's staff doesn't have any of those (some of them are even a bit too nice lol) as far as I know, though popularity was (still is?) apparently a big problem here but that's a different matter.

I know it's a dream, but you shouldn't get too caught up in forum drama. They're just a waste of time.
"Goku would win with the 10000000x Kamehameha".
I also don't see anything wrong with saying this? I say stuff like that to my real life friends all the time. It's all fun and games, which is what a Pokemon forum supposedly is.

I've come from a forum full of, as you described, elitist. So it's nice and refreshing to deal with the people here who are nice. I take it too serious because I've dealt with Moderators who abuse their power and have turned an entire forum against me because I pee'd in their cornflakes. Once. But you are very right, I should just let this kind of stuff go. It's not that serious. Thanks, Spino.

Yes, the moderators here are great. :]

I was banned from another forum partially due to a misunderstanding (and the moderators refused to listen to my explanation), so I'm a little paranoid about being kicked off PC. But the staff here is actually professional, despite being normal users that were promoted. The other forum had actual paid moderators and they were terrible. They suspended me many times for no reason.

Also, I love the new motto. ;D

Paid moderators? Wish I was paid for being here :P

And whuh? The PokeCommunity motto will always be "We are still working on a better slogan" as far as I'm concerned.
