  • This week, Ash and the gang try their hand at a dance contest for an Explorer's Kit, reuniting with both friends and foes along the way.

This episode was dramatically rewritten to account for Happini being cut, plus create a competition that didn't necessarily feature Pokemon, to show that not everything revolves around Pokemon in this Pokeworld. I replaced the Happini egg with an Explorer's Kit because this is about when you get that in the games, plus foreshadows how Dawn gets her Mega Ring later.

I couldn't resist bringing May in now to both establish her and Dawn's friendship, and set up for an arc down the road. Like this story, RSE's remix (Pokemon Sapphire Sky) will have Contests that mirror the games, so battling will not be in those Contest Halls or the rewritten Contest Halls of Kalos either.

If you're curious as to what everyone performed:

May danced to a slow version of this
Brock danced to this with May
Dawn danced to this offscreen during Mars' and Jupiter's scene
    Ash danced to this

Team Galactic's role was dramatically toned down from what Team Rocket does in the original. Mars and Jupiter would know better than to do what Team Rocket does in the original, but they still put on a terrible performance, make off with the rewritten prize, and have Brock shoot them down.

Next time, the group tangles with a mischievous Buizel!
