This week, the gang inspires a depressed Pikachu with story and song--and Brock gets in some practice for the Fantasy Stage.
This episode was heavily rewritten into character development for Brock now that the original plot (and Team Rocket's involvement) no longer made sense. As a result, this was one of those episodes that still worked even after I removed Team Rocket. So now it is an important episode for Brock--because even he needs to train as much as Ash and Dawn do.
I also chose to keep Sugar a Pikachu now that the original story no longer made sense.
Dawn also gets a chance to show off her instrument and teach the boys their first Shinou tune (which goes like this) in their attempts to cheer up Sugar.
Originally, the episode was going to have three stories and a vocal number from Brock, but I had to cut them out because the episode was running long.
Next time, the gang learns how to make Poffins, but things take a scary turn when Team Galactic strikes!
