PS: The First Journey: Unraveled Paths V8.2 is OUT NOW! Trainers, grab your dex and embark on the journey of your life!

Mod for PS: The First Journey

It is the year 1947. Samuel Oak, a 20 year-old prodigy, has just returned back to his home country after spending three years in the world's best university. With him, he brings science, technology, and the true spirit of trainerhood. On a mission to establish the first ever League in the East, Oak will have to adjust to local battling traditions, overcome bureaucratic hurdles, and introduce local uneducated Tamers to the proper way of doing things.

If this sounds familiar, then you're on the right path, my friend.

    The First Journey: Unraveled Paths

PS: The First Journey: Alternate Ending [Multiple Endings] ( PS : Community Content)

Unravel the journey in a different light, the way "YOU" want to, Unraveled Paths takes the journey the way the player chooses and unfolds different endings.

Welcome to The First Journey: Unraveled Paths, the first PostScriptum (PS) community project, made by yours truly. The beauty of this mod is this gives players the option to choose their own paths in the story, unlike vanilla linear storytelling, now players can take their own paths as they see fit and complete their journey without any regrets. The mod is not limited to the choices but also covers the build up towards the decision, the choice is yours ;)

    Features :
    Completely new story direction based on the player choice with a blend of ;

    • New Portraits.
    • New Soundtracks.
    • Non-linear journey.

TFJ Unraveled Paths is based on TFJ, for more info do visit the main thread and show Dogz some love!

    FAQ :
Is my save file from the original game compatible?
YES. As long as the save file is from the same TFJ Version, it'll work like a charm. ( Although cross-version saves do work but may experience some unexpected glitches.)

What's the difference between the original game and Unraveled Paths?
At the core, nothing, both are the same game but Unraveled Paths gives the player a choice, a chance to witness how the story unfolds in a new direction. Both vanilla and alternate endings are present in Unraveled Paths so, in the end, it's up to you ;)

  • I'm shocked that nobody has actually commented on this yet! I've played the vanilla version and really enjoyed the direction it took. Seems like your version will give me incentive to replay!

Hey man, base game dev here, I caught a couple of your episodes a few hours ago, and oh boy, did I feel bad watching you get into trouble with those random encounters (and the deprecated long-ass tidbit text with no pause in sight, and the extra QoL items, and all the missing lore, and and and and and...). Anyways v4 has solved all the issues you either directly or indirectly mentioned in your playthrough. (For instance, you do get more repels, AND, an item that disables random encounters).

But that's not why I'm here to tell you, (puts shades on, looks around); V4 introduces a big number of Silph missions, an optional superboss whose name you should be familiar with by now, and a small postgame preview. The missions are very lore-heavy and fix the rushed late-game. The vanilla ending has also been revamped but that's besides the point. If you're up for it, I can provide you with a mid-game savefile (right after post-Silph's establishment) so you can experience the whole thing without getting through the game again.

Finally, if you have any further feedback other than what was mentioned in your playthrough, I'd ask you to leave it under the base game's thread so we can distinguish it from mod-specific feedback here (anything related to the alternate ending after the jungle choice point).

  • Found this when I was searching for the original thread, I played the vanilla version, and I loved it, I decided today to play it again since it is updated and optimized. And now, this mod will give my gameplay a new taste. Thanks.

  • I don't know if this is an expected thing to happen... When I started playing. After exiting the university building, the tileset became black, Sam's three friends are in front of him, but there's nothing but black everywhere. Is there something I missed? I'm playing it on Joiplay. Couldn't find any Readme file/folder in the downloaded file.

Why don't you swing by in discord, ping me and I'll see what's the issue, it's not intentional so it might be a map bug or an error on the emulator's side.

Update: I tested the game on mobile (Joiplay) and PC. There's no bug or issue spotted on either platform.
Contact me on discord so that I can troubleshoot your issue personally.
