I haven't heared that you can only use the WFC with broadband yet. It might be reccomended since the things work faster then, but it should also work with ISDN, etc.
If you get the USB connector from Nintendo to simulate a WiFi network for your DS (if you don't already have a supported wireless router), it should even work with Dial-up connections.

im not totaly sure what you mean but on the nintendo wifi site
they say of you have a wireless router you can connect via wifi.

lets see if i can find it... this should be it.
(cant post url's till 15 post or more) so heres how you get to it tech support>getting started>at home. there you go thats how i use wifi.
like i said im not sure what you mean't by that so if im talking about something really different then just ignore this.

Ok, so all I have to do is get this USB connector thingy for my DS and then I can use wifi? (Sorry, but I am REALLY bad at this stuff lol). Or would you call mine a supported wireless router? I wouldn't know. All that I know is that it's dial-up and theres no box thingy that came with it like when I had Road Runner...

What if you battle someone and they use a pokemon you havent seen? For example, if my friend uses a nintendo event pokemon in a battle against me, will it count for me having seen it?

And the GTS can be useful even though you can only trade pokemon you've seen. What if you want the evolved form of a pokemon that's only available at the beginning of the game? It's easier to just trade for its level 50 evolved form than to go back and catch the pokemon at its first form and level 14.

    You needa broadband connection.
More info, also on which routers are supported can be found here: https://www.nintendowifi.com/

Yeah I tried reading through that website one. It always seemed to confuzzle me even more about it. x_X

And now I'm still wondering how my friend manages to play wifi on his Wii with dial-up...I'll have to ask next time I see him lol.

I have a Dial-up connection and the Wifi thingy, and I do not recommend it. It works and isn't as slow as people say, but it seems to choose when it wants to work. However, when it does work, it doesn't disconnect like so many people say it will.

The DS Wifi thing works for Wiis the same exact way. However, on dial-up, the Wii is slow... very slow.

Well I only have a DS (and only really wanna try it with the DS if I ever get the chance). Then again maybe it's not worth it..I mean, with all the games I have I can get litterally almost every Pokemon anyways. <_< I just wish I didn't feel so..left out lol.

    Don't feel left out...
    I can't connect either...have NO clue why, since I don't have dial-up, but ehh..
Just drive to Starbucks or Panara if you wanna use WiFi.
I swear, it's a good thing I practically live at Starbucks. xD

    Well in the small town I live in all they have are fast food places and a wallmart and that's basically it. -__- However, the library here is being rebuilt and they said they were getting high-speed. Someone months before told me I had to buy this thing and had to plug it into one of their comps and connect my DS with it in order to use it though and.. I don't know. I don't think they'd let me do that. o_x;

But there are Starbucks everywhere.. ._.
Ask them...they might...I mean, as long as you explained to them what it was...
I don't think most places would be opposed to it...I mean, heck, you could always lie and say it was a Flash Drive...

Haha not where I live! xD The closet one is about an hour or so away, in Albany. *dies*

Well ok, I'm sure they'd understand if I told them. And if not, I'll probably just plug it in when they're not looking lol.

So like, one of these connector thingies, you can get them at EBGames right? Because that's where I'm going to pick up my reserved copy of Diamond.. And what's the range of prices for these things might I ask?

    xD That's far!
    I'd sneak it in. And if they ask what it is, like I said, I'd just say it's a weird-looking flash drive. ._.;;
I'm pretty sure you can get them at EBgames. I haven't seen them myself, but if not, you can order them online, for sure on the Nintendo website. I think they're about $30-40, but with the number of games that use Wifi, I think it'd be worth it.
You could always ask the guy when you go to pick up Pokemon.

Also, I'm pretty sure you get to choose your connection when you connect via wifi, and if you're lucky someone in your area might have it XP personally I can connect to 3+ networks besides my own in my house >.> I have an uncle who lives in a pretty rural area who uses someone elses network to use the internet.

Ppl also have the advantage of wifi if they have a wireless router (me!) and have wireless internet. If they do then they could just download the wifi onto their DS and just play online. It's that simple for wireless. I would kind of recommend it but there's alot of people who can't afford it so I guess I'd shut up about it.

Um.. is this really true? x_x Because I have dial-up and uh..yeah. *dies* Where I live I can't get cable or satellite (most of the sattelite internet companies don't have service for my area). Plus I remember my friend Tom mentioning something about having dial-up and wifi too...(he lives in a more isolated place). So now I'm kinda confuzzled...=/

Sorry, I tested it out and it works awesomely, problem is though, DON'T DOWNLOAD OR SURF the web at the time, I got owneded by people on MPH (Metroid) So many times, because of damn Limewire + Sis (Grr...)

Yeah, mainly for two reasons: Two players, not four, and 2D graphics, not 3D, except for some attack animations, though.

Not really. All the games will send are commands for your status in the battle.

Yeah, which is like CSS (Which I play) you can still play on dial up because all it is basically doing is sending locations of the opposite players, that's why it doesn't require BB.

And also, if somone put a Dalgia up for trade and I havn't seen one, I can still trade for it [If I have the asking Pokemon], right?

Nope, you need to have seen it, You can see it in pearl by talking to an old lady at a building, I forget where but it is possible to view 150 of the sinnoh pokemon out of 151. #151 is Manaphy.

Where do you see Stunky and Cranidos? Those are the only two besides Dialga that I need to trade for. Everything else I'll catch / transfer over from GBA myself.
